I think so. I would much rather have a directly-connected, parallel-concurrent system monitoring and controlling my physical process in real time. The alternative: hardware signals handed off to a TM, data-processing, handed back to hardware is slow, unsafe and complex, is what we have now. When you start considering safety-, time-, and mission-critical applications, there is even more reason to select a parallel-concurrent model.

The problems I am looking to solve are those of:
cost (to design and build, and to own), safety, complexity, maintenance, and understandability.
