Bailey ALSPA-ZS communication to HMI

I am quite new in this area, so please keep your replies simple.

A customer of ours is running a Bailey ALSPA-ZS to run his process. I have Googled the Web, but there is very minimal information out there regarding this ALSPA-ZS.

The customer claims that communication with this DCS is extremely difficult due to proprietary protocols, etc. We are looking to put a SCADA package on top of the DCS, but the question is how can we get data from the ALSPA?

Does anyone have experience with this?
