A thyristor controlled rectifier tranformer of 2500kVA, 15.75kV/575V Transformer is getting overheated even at 30% of its rating. What is the reason?
1. Harmonics?
2. Inter-turn short?
3. Insulation weakness?
4. Improper cooling?
5. Unequal thyristor firing?
How could we declare the defective section for this overheating?
THis transformer was taken out for cleaning and tightness checking and putback into service. After this, the overheating (120 deg. C for all 3 phases) problem experienced.
