Is it possible to link the OS server to a SNMP enabled device?

As far as I know, there's a OPC option (profiles) for Siemens devices, what about non Siemens devices? Is this possible?

The objective for the link is to have the OS server ping the SNMP device (e.g. network switch) so that it is able to detect if the device is down.

The device is connected to the Terminal Bus and so is the OS server.

Any SNMP Manager software can do this. Kepware has an SNMP Client driver as part of its IT suite. There is also a Ping driver.
