COuld anyone tell me what the preferred orientation should be for a orifice meter in a hydrogen gas service? Should it be vertical or
horizontal? Transmitter will be above plate in either case and bleed holes will be included with horizontal runs.

Either can be technically correct, but vertical risers are typically preferred for a number of reasons. I suggest that you refer to chapter 10
in "Industrial Flow Measurement" (ISA) where I include more details.
