Mark IV Data Dump

Hello, We have been reading some entries about the data dump facility on the Mk IV. We have tried quickly to set it up to no avail. Can someone give us some more information (our manuals do not give us much) about how to set it and our computer up to get this info?

Thanks very much for your time.

Hi everybody,

we need some information about MKIV Data Dump. how to retreive information, and if we can use PDDump MKV TCI utility to communicate with MKIV.

Thanks,

hmd,

You must have a GE Mark IV HMI, or a GE Mark V HMI?

The "Data Dump" of the Mark IV is a pre-configured list of points which cannot be changed. Very early Mark IV panels did not have the capability to enable a "Data Dump" in the field; later Mark IVs did have this capability.

If you're looking for a quick means of obtaining data values using some electronic means, the best way is to connect a laptop PC to the Mark IV printer port, use a telecommunications program (such as MS-Windows Hyperterminal) to configure the laptop's serial port to appear as a printer to the Mark IV, configure the Mark IV Demand Display for the values you're looking to obtain at the fastest possible rate, and enable the capture capability of the telecommunications program to gather the data. The data-gathering process will be "interrupted" by any Process- or Diagnostic Alarms which are annunciated while the data-gathering process is on-going (because Alarms are deemed more important than data). (The details of making a null modem cable and configuring a telecommunications program are well outside the scope of this forum--unless someone else wants to tackle it....)

But, that's about it as far as I know. I'm not familiar with PDDump; it might be possible if a StageLink connection to the Mark IV is available, but, again, without knowing more about the executable it's difficult to say.

Perhaps if you describe what you're trying to accomplish we might be able to suggest a method....

Hi,

We can communicate with MKIV Data Dump.

If we can be of help, please contact www.cstfs.com or call 407/405-0099 as we have several utilities to communicate with MKIV.

Thanks,

TSA,

Look at the MkIV Elementary drawing pages 19. It is on these pages that the factory designated points are shown as programed. If you do not have the pages for your specific unit from the factory, be aware that not all jobs have their Data Dump points programed in the same sequencing or are different points.
