Replacing AC motors with BLDC

I have 6 x 1.5kW AC induction motors which are being used as blowers in a galvanizing plant. Air flow is controlled by using dampers.

We are planning to remove dampers and install VFDs to control the speed the blower.

My question is, is installing VFDs a cost effective solution rather than replacing the AC motor with BLDC and its associated circuits?

If any if you can help me find the issues/cost effectiveness of the BLDC solution, that would be great.

In nearly all cases the AC VFD will be much less than the cost of a new DC Motor and Controller.

The on-going savings will be the same.

At that power level I would expect VFDs to be at least competitive if not cheaper.

Suppose I should do a cost calculation and see whether how it goes.

Thank you all for your ideas.
