During a recent TCEA card replacement we had a intern discussion about the procedure.

According to the GE procedure the only things you have to do is set the berg jumpers correctly and move the EPROM.

now the big question remains: does the configuration software has to be re downloaded onto the card?

The manual is not very clear about that point as it is inconsistent in the different sections.

Finally--a question I can answer!

All card configurations are contained in the IOCFG download partition that gets downloaded to the EEPROM chip on the DCC/SDCC card in <C> and <R>, <S>, and <T>. When any card is looking for configuration information it goes to the ERPROM chip of its associated processor and gets its configuration from there.

It's not possible to download to anything other than the EEPROM chips on the DCC/SDCC cards.
