Voltage drop in Mark VIe control panel
How quickly is the DC motor getting to rated speed? The DCLO pump motors I'm familiar with have resistor circuits and time delay relays to limit the inrush current so that the motor reaches rated speed over ~3-4 seconds. I've seen situations where issues with the starting circuit and the...

Mark VIe Ramp Rate Constant Setting for Real Power (MW)
You can right click on the block and select 'block help' to see how the block works. Short answer is yes, Rate1 and Rate2 are in units/second. However, in the example shown, those rate limits are just for how quickly the preselect MW setpoint changes. The actual rate of change for the...

PH Water Measurement
What is the process water? High purity water can cause issues if the pH probe isn't designed to handle low conductivity water. High purity water is also susceptible to atmospheric CO2 intrusion which will lower a grab sample pH versus an in-process measurement. Are the process vs. grab sample...

TEMPERATURE CONTROL ISSUES ON GAS TURBINES
So if I understand correctly, you were trying to increase load on these turbines but they were entering exhaust temperature control at a load much lower than expected? For all of the turbines to react this way, I would look to see if there were any changes to the exhaust temperature control...

Mark-V simulator
Dustin, Try contacting GSE to see if they can provide what you're looking for. Our sites original simulator was furnished by them for our MarkV GT/ST & Ovation. I don't recall any hardware being required but it may have been, I know its not for our current MarkVe set-up. They're not cheap...

GE 9FA machine, when Unit on standstill and need to run LO/ HO for alignment work under test permit, how other users are proceeding?
Kartik.shah, At our site we simply open the turning gear breaker and select cool down on. You'll likely get a 'turning gear trouble' alarm but its fine, you will still get lube and lift. The turning gear breaker will be part of the LOTO for the guys with their hands on the turbine. If you...

How to calculate SGT-800 Firing temperature (T52)
I know with GE's firing temp calculation there is a constant that represents the pressure drop across the combustor liner. The constant is adjusted when new hardware is installed during HGP outages.

Crank Cooling 7FA
GER-3620n has this bit in it: Prior to an inspection, a common practice is to force cool the unit to speed the cool-down process and shorten outage time. Force cooling involves turning the unit at crank speed for an extended period of time to continue flowing ambient air through the machine...

High hydrogen comsuption
I would suggest performing a generator drop check first to verifiy the problem is with the generator and not the supply/distribution piping (any safety valves that could be leaking?). Verify scavening flows are set correctly and the float traps are functioning as they should. Higher seal oil...

SPEEDTRONIC MARK V 3D Table: How to Get Table Values?
Casey, OEMs typically keep compressor maps confidential and rarely make the information available - even for users. I'm not very familiar with how password protection and encryption works on MarkV software - But with our MarkVe controls, these big block macros for the compressor ratio limits...

Voltage drop calculation across cable
Thibhika, That is a lot of current to be pulling through a small wire such an extremely long distance - Yes there is going to be a significant voltage drop. (Still not sure how exactly its wired, is everything on 1 or is there 2 loops? is there 4 or 5 flame detectors) Heres 8 gas detectors...

Best book or articles to learn about DLN tuning especially GE machines?
Here is an article that you may find helpful - it is primarilly focused on combustion dynamics but it gives a pretty decent introduction into the what, how and why tuning is performed on DLN combustors. https://www.ccj-online.com/3q-2011/7f-users-group-blowout-trips/

GE-9E wheelspace temperature Abnormal
Did the temperature spread suddenly appear 14 days after the water wash or is that just when it finally alarmed? I have seen an extraction valve accidently left closed after an offline water wash create your issue - That would be the first thing I would check - make sure all of the valves in...

steam turbine overspeed
The way I interpreted the OP's post was more of a theoretical: "What if the my 3 speed pickups are 'healthy' but aren't accurately reporting the actual turbine speed - and the turbine is actually spinning faster than indicated. Shouldn't there be extra protection to prevent an overspeed in...
