    Thank you for that reply. But what I meant to say was that, if a dc turning motor is operating, can you start the turbine. Start up vide dc turning motor in case of non availability of ac turning motor. Is it possible.

    We have a GE Frame 9E machine. Wanted to know if the machine can be started with DC turning gear mechanism (considering unavailability of AC turning motor). Will the starting motor not get overloaded considering that with DC turning gear, the speed is 0.25 rpm vis-a-vis 6 rpm during AC turning.
