What Is the First Steam Blow Test in Commissioning
Saul, Why do you think steam blows are performed on a steam turbine-generator plant?

Exhaust Temp Spread Trip after Selecting IGV Temp Match
Aptx4869, Explain how the unit transitions from Simple Cycle to Combined Cycle modes. Does it have an exhaust bypass stack, with a damper or diverter that has to change position to re-direct the exhaust flow from the bypass stack to the HRSG? Is this happening before or after you are changing...

Mark V <C> Additional Analog Inputs
gilariver Jack, So, I think I may understand the problem--I apologize for not spotting it sooner. In your original post you said you put BJ1, BJ2 & BJ3 IN--and that <b>is</b> for C_C_MAI15, C_C_MAI16 & C_C_MAI17. However, C_C_MAI15 is 'Signal 1' on the TCCB. The TCCB has 22 additional mA...

Flame Eye/Detector in Gas Turbine
Aaristokrat, The least expensive type of flame detection system used in most gas turbines is done using an ultra-violet (UV) sensor. The sensor is charged to a high voltage (sometimes as high as 335 VDC) and when it sees flame the sensor shorts itself to produce a saw-tooth output (pulse...

Gas Turbine Generator Load Tests
skbarc, You must have load to load-test the gas turbine-generator set. The gas turbine provides torque to the generator which converts the torque to amperes--which must be "doing something", even if that's just generating heat in a load bank. The gas turbine can produce a LOT of torque--but...

ARCnet Analyzer for Mark-V Node Monitoring
Thanks VERY MUCH for the detailed feedback! It's so important for others who read these threads now--and in the future--to know what was done and how the problem was ultimately resolved. I believe there are several companies, including some divisions of GE, that are using...

Fuel Change Over Mark Vie GE Frame 9E
transporter84, My best guess is L43FL_PRSET, because that logic signal, when it goes to a logic "1", causes the Fuel Selection Command State block to select liquid fuel and initiates the transfer to liquid fuel. It takes precedence over the other enabled PRSET inputs, because of the order of...

Humidity Sensor 96RH-1 in G.E. 7FA Gas Turbine with Mark V Control
It should be on the "back" of the vertical inlet duct, just above the Turbine Compartment roof. Or, it could be on either side of the vertical inlet duct just above the slanted portion that narrows down to the bellmohuth (the axial compressor inlet). Or it could be on the vertical inlet...

Fuel Change Over Mark Vie GE Frame 9E
I'm sorry for the delay in responding. I was recently shamed when I tried to explain how some function worked on a unit which was built and configured by GE in Belfort, France, and learned they have completely changed how that particular worked--after decades (literally) of no problems...

Clarification on Correct Servo Polarity Check
I want to add one more clarification. On a working three-coil servo-valve if the polarity of current being applied to one coil is wrong then the valve will still move and allow flow (of fuel or air). The error between the reference and the indicated (actual) will be a little larger, and the...

Effect of NOx on Combustion in Gas Turbines
NOx is a product of the combustion of hydrocarbon-based fuels. NOx is an atmospheric pollutant. > why is it important to eliminate to the barest minimum NOx > in a gas turbine? To reduce air pollution. For a really good discussion of NOx and its effects on the air we breathe and the rain...

Clarification on Correct Servo Polarity Check
Thanks for the feedback! I'm a terrible proof-reader of my own writing, and there are a couple/three errors in my writing which I hope didn't cause a great deal of confusion. Servo current polarity and "smoothness" of travel are NOT related. The device will move if a single coil is receiving...

Mark V <C> Additional Analog Inputs
gilariver Jack, A "standard" Mark V did not include the TCCB--but when it was available as an option. I presume you are configuring the input from the <C> (or <B>) TCCB target (button) of the I/O Configurator. Are there other I/O connected to that card that are working? (Sorry; I haven't...

fudge, From the notes in the photos you sent, it appears the code (which is a different version of "primary frequency response" than I've seen before--so, that makes it three known versions of PFR (Primary Frequency Response) that exist that I know of) will work when Pre-Selected Load Control...

Mark V <C> Additional Analog Inputs
Jack, I suspect everything is working correctly--BUT, the DIAGC.DAT file does not match the card/PROM revisions for the Mark V which is why it's not working on the DIAGC display. Have you tried the Demand Display? Have you run MK5MAKE.BAT and then re-booted the HMI (or, restarted TCI)...
