I know this is an old post but better late than never ! You won't need coils. Unlike directional solenoid valves the amount of power used by this type of servo is tiny - about 1/8 watt so the coils don't even get warm. You probably already know that if you try and push the spool out before...

Once the power is removed the integral electronics can't apply any signal to the proportional magnet. The only way I can imagine you can set the bias is: unplug the electrical connector, turn on the hydraulics, remove the big hex nut on the end, (there will be no leakage) slacken the tiny nut...
