SnapModbus
Can you tell those of us who aren't programmers/coders how to install this on a Windows 10 box? I got lost when getting an error message (no Path) after clicking on build64.bat

Modbus client application
I decided to try Open Modscan with RTU over RS-485. I can't get the 'Connections' to display the COM ports for a serial connection. It's stuck on Remote TCP/IP server, as the screen shot shows. How do I get it to display "Direct Connection to COMx" ?

The test of the OpenModbus scanner function is being done with a known target server box. The server is connected with the laptop running either Modscan or OpenModscan. Both Modscan and OpenModscan communicate as expected with the server. The scanner starts at 192.168.1.1, runs for 42...

Here's a screen shot of the scanner with the scan results: no results. I figured the 'scanning' values on the left was the reported result because there's nothing in the results window. Repeating the scan produces the same null result.

Isn't the point of scanning to report what's been found? Otherwise, what's the point of scanning? The scanner function does report the IP address properly. I suspect that it found the correct Device ID, too, but for whatever reason, it did not report the found address, rather it reported...

There seems to be a bug in the scanner: finding the wrong Device ID (node address). Case in point: The server's IP address is 192.168.1.42; the server's Device ID is 3. Here's the setup for the scan: Here's the results when the scanner found the server at 192.168.1.42, but at Device ID...

Very Nice package. Several improvements over Win-Tech's Modscan. The traffic view is wonderful, which each poll and each response on its own line. Much better than the Win-tech version. The Omodbus version adds four 32 bit integer formats that Win-Tech does not display: - Long integer -...

Help me out. I cannot figure out how to install "Open Modscan" in Windows 10. - Downloaded OpenModScan-main.zip. - Extracted zipped files to OpenModscan-main folder - Nothing resembling a Windows executable file in the omodscan sub-folder. What am I missing?

Hardware Failure of Temperature Transmitter
I must not have had my coffee yet that morning I replied. A common RTD failure mode is when the RTD element breaks due to vibration. I've encountered situations where break was not evident in a cold state or when vibration was not present. But the element would open when heated up when...

Turbine
Tripping the turbine (from Base Load or ANY load, even unloaded!) occurs when: 1) A serious condition was detected by the turbine control system that required immediately closing the fuel supply valve 2) The fuel supply dropped below that required to maintain operation (flame cannot be...

Error in Measuring Differential Pressure Using DPT
Steam pressure is greater than than the water supply pressure so the downstream low side DP port senses a higher pressure than the upstream water pressure at the DP's high side port; so DP goes negative. DP = High side minus low side.

Flow Sensor Recommendation Needed
Check out Panametrics (GE?) transit time clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter. I believe they have transducers rated for 500 Deg F. Last time I checked, clamp-on assumes a full pipe; I don't think even multi-path can deal partially full pipe.

ELOP II MODBUS Communication
Presumably you are using a Function code 03, read Holding Register(s), or 04, read Input Register(s) for reading the real (floating point) value. Which Function Code are you using to read the boolean value supported by the master/client and is that Function Code supported? What is the...

2 Wire Modbus RTU Network Incorrect Wiring Scenario
I'm sure the number of incorrect wiring combinations for 2 wire 485 is finite, but even one is more than I want to tackle on my time off. Why don't you tell us what you found and the implications? We'd all be interested to find out even if we're not willing to do labor through the details.

Issue with Modbus Communication
I'm not sure what the "destination call" consists of, but for automation it needs to be some form of electrical signal. Tie that electrical signal into the PLC and let PLC logic do its thing. If the HMIs need to be updated, then the PLC had the data to update the HMIs.

Invalid Field Length in MBAP Header on Modbus/TCP Slave
I interpret "MODBUS Messaging on TCP/IP Implementation Guide V1.0b", section 3.1.2, as any message (source either client or server) where the message length field data does not correspond with the actual message length as an invalid messageto be discarded and an error response generated. It's...

Need Help Interpreting MODBUS Documentation
>I'm not too familiar with MODBUS. That won't make any difference because the documented protocol is not Modbus. It bears some similarities, but a Modbus RTU master will never get a reply message from your slave inverter because the inverter protocol is not Modbus. Yes, Modbus and this...
