Wire markers that work and stick?
Up until you said the wires had to be pulled through a conduit I would have suggested these sleeves (Brady, Partex and others do them too) https://www.monarchelectric.com/weidmuller-1798540000-pvc-wire-marker-sleeve-0-197-inch-x-0-591-inch-transparent-465620 Advantages are labels can't fall off...

Modbus Comms failure between PLC ML1400 and VFDs when one devices is unplugged
