Introducing SMC’s New Manifold Series: JSY3000-L and JSY3000-P

2 days ago by Austin Futrell

More compact pneumatic manifolds with high output capacity, the JSY3000-L and JSY3000-P from SMC, expand automotive, manufacturing, and machine-tool applications.

SMC, a leader in the pneumatic controls industry, has added two new manifolds to its catalog: the JSY3000 L-series and P-series. The JSY3000 series reduces the number of SI (serial interface) units and minimizes wiring, resulting in a smaller footprint and easier installation.

What is a Pneumatic Manifold?

A manifold in pneumatic systems compactly organizes the connection of multiple solenoid valves. This setup allows for centralized control and distribution of air to various parts of the system. Grouping the valves in a manifold simplifies installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, making the system more efficient and easier to manage. The manifold also helps to save space and ensures a clean and simple setup, which is particularly beneficial in complex industrial applications where accessibility is crucial.

JSY3000 Series: Similarities

The 5-port solenoid valves offer a variety of familiar features within the series. Both products in the series can be flexibly configured with 4 to 64 stations, allowing for 128 outputs across the modules. This high output capacity makes them ideal for complex pneumatic systems requiring extensive control points. The JSY3000-L and JSY3000-P series also share the characteristic of being compact, with approximately a 28 percent reduction in size for the P-series and a 10 percent reduction in size for the L-series compared to similar products with the same capability.

The JSY3000-L and JSY3000-P series solenoid valves offer advanced communication and compatibility features essential for integrating modern automated systems. Both series support industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, and PROFINET, ensuring connectivity with various industrial devices and control systems.

JSY3000 Series: Differences

One of the main differences between the JSY3000-L and JSY3000-P series is the integration of electro-pneumatic regulators. The JSY3000-P series can integrate electro-pneumatic regulators directly within the manifold, allowing for a combination of solenoid valves and electro-pneumatic regulators on the same platform. This integration provides enhanced control and precision in pneumatic systems, accommodating one to four electro-pneumatic regulator stations and supporting up to eight I/O unit stations. In contrast, the JSY3000-L series does not support integrated electro-pneumatic regulators.

Another difference between the two series is that the JSY3000-L series supports IO-Link compatibility, enabling communication and integration with other IO-Link devices within an industrial network. This capability provides advanced diagnostics, parameterization, and real-time data exchange, improving overall control and monitoring of pneumatic systems.

Pneumatic Manifold Applications

The JSY3000-L series is ideal for semiconductor manufacturing and automotive assembly applications because its compact design significantly reduces space requirements, and its IO-Link compatibility allows for advanced diagnostics and real-time data exchange, ensuring efficient and reliable operations.

Conversely, the JSY3000-P series excels in life sciences and machine tool operations due to its integration of electro-pneumatic regulators, which, as discussed, provides precise pressure control essential for sensitive processes, making it suitable for managing complex automation tasks with high accuracy and flexibility.
