1 axis Digital readout Solutions?

Hi,

I need a single axis digital readout solution (compact in size) to connect to Heidenhain or Renishaw linear encoder/ruler.

THE perfect solution would be the size of a Pocket PC (if suchh a solution exists). Otherwise a counter card to fit in a compact PC or between the linear encoder and a laptop PC.
