I'm a controls engineer given the task of deciding what we as a company we need to do to replace a control system for a Rolls Royce Avon gas turbine that uses a Mark 3 Governor. The generator is part of an islanded system supervised by a Power Management System (PMS), that would issue discrete speed raise/lower commands to the governer.
We are told that the PMS expects all the generators to operate on droop mode. I have been researching the GEC package manual/circuit schematics. Re the governer control circuit I can not see how droop is performed.
I was expecting to see sensing of the power output to a droop function that moderated the speed setpoint via a bias signal.
Can someone please point me in the right direction as to how droop is achieved by the Mark 3.
regards
Andy
