Modbus Ring for Redundancy

We have an Idea and need a verification indicating any restrictions for it's implementation.

We propose to connect the modbus network from it's two ends to a specific Gateways to be connected to a full redundant Ethernet N.W.

So please thanks to inform if any one see such architecture before or have the experience to guide me for implementation, indicating the type of Gateway, any special programming/setting,.....
