what are the differences between Profibus DP and Profibus PA?

for both we use extra card?

PROFIBUS PA is a fieldbus [specified in IEC 61158-2] which typically supplies power and transmits communication digitally on a single pair of wires. Electrical signal levels and data rates are different than those of PROFIBUS DP.

To connect a PROFIBUS PA device to a PROFIBUS DP network, a device called a Segment Coupler can be used.

Search for "Profibus Segment Coupler" on the internet.

 

i read that profibus PA gets power from profibus DP.?
for which application we use profibus PA?
and for which application we use profibus DP.
