Homebrewed software to communicate with measuring device via Modbus TCP
Its a pity I don't have this Iskra MC750 at hand over here. Because I'm sure I get it working with a Pro-face touchpanel in just a few minutes. If you connect this MC750 to your PC directly with a ethernet cable, there is a chance you need to use a crossed cable...

Sometimes you also need to adjust the gateway to 192.168.1.254

Homebrewed software to communicate with measuring device via Modbus TCP
[off topic]: Nice, I installed lots of Brands kilns for Iskra Feriti in Ljubljana, was in the 90's after the war. Really nice people, and very beautiful nice country. Didn't know they also made this equipment.

Interfacing PLC and SCADA
I would use a Pro-face touchpanel and program it with GP Pro EX. It is easy to use and you can set up communication very quick and easily. It also has functionality for ladder logic on board. I make many projects with this nice small one: the GP4116 with a RS-485 bus (for i.e. Modbus RTU...

Load cell to plc
If you weigh the turkey before putting it in the carousel (you now the spot in the carousel position where it goes into) you can drop it if that spot of the carousel. For example, you have a carousel with 16 positions and it keeps on turning. You must keep track of the position at loading with...

Sensor to read silo level in tonnage
If the density is always the same, and you never change that, you can make a calibration for the sensor with a few known loads of the silo. You can for example take a Pro-face GP4116 touchpanel with a RKC Instrument SRZ TIOB module with 4-20mA input. They are interconnected with Modbus RTU. In...

Do you always have the same product with the same density in the silo?

Using Proface HMI with Arduino uno
What I often do is use 2 screens. Screen 1 is the application I'm developing and the 2nd screen is the "simulator". That way you can already test a lot and after receiving the hardware you can quickly continue with an almost finished application. For the simulator you could take a simple small...

Human Machine Interface - HMI
DP type Orifice plate for flow measurement is used to measure the bidirectional flow measurement to measure the Flow for Export and import of steam.
I also made use of such plates to measure air/nitrogen flow. What I learned is to put the plate with pressure connections in a straight pice of pipe (at least 5x diameter away from a bend) and the pressure differences were very low, just a few pascals. So I had to make use of a very accurate low...

Using Proface HMI with Arduino uno
Ok, please consider that if you want to position cylinders correctly the ladder PLC inside a Pro-face touchpanel is not super quick for accurate positing. Think of response times of 100ms or larger and not always the same. So it makes sense to use extra hardware for that and let the Pro-face...

Using Proface HMI with Arduino uno
What also works great is using modbus TCP connections. On internet you can find various implementations of this type of interface and you can use that in your arduino. The Pro-face screen supports both modbus TCP master and slave. And it also supports modbus RTU (serial) of course, either as...

Using Proface HMI with Arduino uno
I work a lot with Pro-face HMI screens and program them. Ladder logic runs more or less real-time. You can also use local (Dscript) and global (Gscripting). You can fit your screen with IO signals incl. PWM and use that. But I think it is much better to use a real servo control unit and control...

Exhaust Thermocouples are getting random failure in 6FA Machine
Ok, 450-600C is not very high in temperature and type K is more or less standard. Our factory makes many of those. Is a flame or a certain gas in contact with the thermocouple? Is the failure you have every 2-3 years just an open thermocouple? Or is it shorted somewhere inside the thermocouple...

Exhaust Thermocouples are getting random failure in 6FA Machine
By failure, do you mean that the measured value is offset more than 10 degrees, or do you just get an open thermocouple? Can you specify which kind of thermocouple you (i.e. type K, J, S etc.) incl. the temperature range you want to measure? What material is the outside of the thermocouple...

How to write to multiple modbus devices over TCP/IP simultaneously
The nice thing with modbus/TCP is, is that all devices can be both master, as well as slave (this is not possible with modbus RTU serial where there is 1 master and slaves). I have done this many times with Pro-face GP4301TAD screens using 2 interfaces in the project (1 as modbus TCP master 1 as...

Modbus Comms failure between PLC ML1400 and VFDs when one devices is unplugged
Are the VFDs not causing the noise on the communication? The cables from VFD to the motors must be shielded and the shield must be connected to ground at both sides......Is your earth itself ok. I know from personal experience in a factory 100km above Madrid (rocky bottom) that we had to let a...

Modbus Comms failure between PLC ML1400 and VFDs when one devices is unplugged
Hi Meisterbond, I also program many Pro-face GP screens using GP Pro EX. Did you use the #scanoff functionality for this? I also use that a lot. Good idea to enable it now and then te see if something comes back online............I'll keep that in mind.

Calculator app for PLC programmers
Nice, I always use the HP42s emulator everywhere. Especially since it has a good support for HEX/DEC/BIN conversion, and I prefer to work with RPN calculators, then I don't have to use brackets all the time. Also works great with automatic engineering unit scaling in the correct steps: x10-3...

Use the specview.com SCADA software, it can scan all ports and addresses on various baudrates and parity settings. It will detect it automatically for you.
