Hart 475 not Communicating Fisher DVC 2000
I'd suggest that you go through Jonas Berge's "New Tips and Tricks to get Value out of HART" because it is the most comprehensive compilation of HART user information on the planet and work your way through it. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/new-tips-tricks-get-value-out-hart-jonas-berge/...

Modbus TCP with OMRON E5EC
You've done a nice job explaining what you've tried and what's worked and what hasn't. Don't feel bad about being new to Modbus. I'm old to Modbus and found the Omron a real challenge, things like: - Omron's "Variable area" is not a rotameter, it's a Modbus register. - Omron's...

EGT 20 Deg C Lower Than Expected
>during commissioning Hmmmmm, so it's probably never read the expected temperature? Are you sure that thermocouple cold junction compensation is enabled and functioning? Whenever I see consistent low thermocouple temperature readings on the order to 20-35 DegC, I wonder whether the cold...

Engine Exhaust Temperature Sensor (Thermocouple)
It's not a question of accuracy (comparison to a known certified standard). It's a question of how much variation there is between the 4 inch insertion versus the 5 inch insertion depth. The thermocouple senses the temperature at the hot junction which is very close, within a couple mm of...

When Do I Need Y-Pattern Needle Valve?
>specific model or supplier. Maybe the original is Y-style for operating handle clearance? No way to tell because my crystal ball is cloudy. I know that I've seen Y style needle valves that are fully roddable, for situations that require such, but other styles can be fully roddable also.

The Efficiency of Ultrasonic Level Sensor
I still hear complaints about ultrasonic level measurement. Two that come to mind: 1. Air temperature surrounding the transducer is below atmospheric dewpoint. Lift station water is warmer than the air. Moisture condenses out on the transducer face. Ultrasonic transmitter goes into Loss...

Modbus Communication with Danfoss VLT FC360
There's the serial settings on the drive. I see in the programming manual https://tinyurl.com/yyu9u5kz page 70, there are a number of serial settings in the 8-3* Port settings 8-30 should be code 2 for Modbus RTU? 8-31 is the code for the drive Modbus slave node ID, which is ? 8-32...

Rosemount Diff. Pressure transmitter problem
>I believed that the Hart meter always gave the true output reading, but I guess that's not the case. Depends on what you mean by HART meter. Which HART meter were you using that displays milliamp values? What is the source of the milliamp value you read? I know for a fact that the...

A New Modbus-TCP Server Simulator
I haven't installed it yet to try it, but I've looked at the screen shots on the web page. I like the nice wide Remarks column for tags or whatever. A couple suggestions 1. I had to study the 'Register Data" table (2nd screen shot) to figure out whether it handles floating point. It...

Modbus RTU to Bluetooth
You haven't specified which serial port the Modbus devices run on - RS-232? RS-485? Ethernet? Assuming it's RS-485, TI has a chip for it, with firmware and Modbus app, so says the web page. http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDC-BLUETOOTH-SMART-TO-RS-485-GATEWAY Not a recommendation from me...

Polling Slaves from 2 Masters
Not from a single RS-485 bus - that violates one of the Modbus Standard RULES - only one Master. It's not an arbitrary rule - with two masters there will collisions of commands and replies and the result is really bad communications. Although currently operating as Modbus RTU masters...

Installing a Flowmeter to Calculate Gas Quantity and Display Information in Control Room
I'm not aware of a commercial 'panel meter' that collates those totals. Totalization is typically done in a PLC/DCS/PAC/controller or in an HMI panel, either of which communicates with the flow meter to get the flowrate or total (an in-line ultrasonic flowmeter for natural gas is...

Mark6e (MK5 migration) Exhaust Thermocouples Read Low
I know zilch about turbine controls, so I'm asking questions. 1. Wrong CJ? If I understand the correct connection sequence it is: T/C > TBQA terminals > ribbon cable > MVRA So I have to ask, is the 'system' using the Simplex forwarded CJ measurements at the TBQA terminals or is it...

Commuincating with Laser Caliper (Laser Online LST-25)
Just because there's an RS-485 port doesn't mean that the port supports the Modbus protocol. The laser caliper handles Modbus only if it says it does (uses the word Modbus) and has some supporting Modbus documentation. If it does support Modbus, then it is highly likely that the laser...

PLC for Hamilton Visiwater DO Probe
Wow. It must be an really old DO probe because the honesty with which the manufacturer presents the issues with the analog output read like a legacy manual from yesteryear. I can almost feel the crinkle-painted chassis and see the backlit VU meters. Anyhow, my exposure to dissolved...
