GE Diagnostic Alarms
I'm really curious what the diagnostic is, to generate 70k a day. Anyway, it is easy enough to disable sending diagnostics from the OPC AE server (presumably to avoid sending 70k alarms to your DCS?). Open your workstation in ToolboxST, select the "OPC AE Server" tab. In the tree under...

MKVIe IO Pack Failures
A lot of "failed" Mark VIe I/O packs get returned to GE with absolutely nothing wrong with them--the real culprit is all to often improper grounding, a bad network switch, or a power supply issue. My guess from my experience is grounding, as far too many sites have inadequate or improperly...

Difference between Mark-V and Mark-VIe
I'd also recommend GEH-6808, the ControlST Suite How-to Guides (GHT-2000xxx in older ControlST versions). The documents are usually added to the Start Menu with the document title, but I recommend creating a PDF index for the documents so you can search easier. Instructions for doing so are...

IS420UCSBH3A Repair
All UCSAs and UCSBs are 115200, 8 bit, no parity, one stop bit. This is assuming you have the RJ-45 to DB9 adapter (GE part #342A4944P1) and a COM port or USB to serial adapter.

EGD in MARK 6e
The short answer is that EGD is not a two-way protocol. If you want to write data from the PLC into the controller, you'd create an EGD page from the PLC and consume it in the controller. There is a second protocol called CMP (command message protocol) that layers on top of the EGD...

Loading OPC Tags in MARKVI
I'm not sure from the context if you really mean Mark VIe, since WorkstationST is less commonly used with the older Mark VI devices. The HMIs use the same OPC DA source for Cimplicity screens, so there is a good chance the OPC DA server is already configured for the data you want. If not, it...

GE EGD Configuration Server vs System Database (SDB)
Correct, you shouldn't see an SDB on a pure Mark VIe system. TCI's function was a combination of protocol gateway and aggregating server for various protocols, including alarms. WorkstationST fills that role for the Mark VI and Mark VIe today (and older systems in certain retrofit...

GE EGD Configuration Server vs System Database (SDB)
They do much the same thing; the difference is mainly generational. The SDB is from the Toolbox Classic, Mark VI and EX2100 era; the EGD configuration server is from the Mark VIe and ToolboxST era. You see both in systems with mixed Mark VI, Mark VIe, and EX2100 devices. Primarily the SDB...
