How to Format Correct MODBUS Address
In Modscan32, you can select whether the register/addresses display in decimal or hexadecimal under Setup > Display Options > Hex addresses. I always use decimal addressing, but I have a vague recollection that hex addressing starts at 0001h in Modscan, so you might have to add one to the hex...

Reading a Thermocouple with a Partlow MIC 6000 Process Controller
Rob, Before you give up on it, look up that CAL 2 QUICK CALIBRATION procedure in the manual and give it a try. It's a one minute procedure of button pushing that might bring it back enough to be useable. I'd just be reluctant to throw good money after bad in an attempt to 'repair' it...

Reading a Thermocouple with a Partlow MIC 6000 Process Controller
There probably is no publicly available schematic. Schematics generally disappeared with adoption of microprocessors 25 years ago. If it were me, I'd buy a replacement controller. Most 16th DIN single loop controllers today can do what the 1/4 DIN MIC6000 did back then at a fraction of the...

Stripping a HART signal
I suspect you have excessive noise on the signal that is not HART (as others have explained, there's no HART data unless a HART master asks for HART data), but if you want to strip off any possibility of a HART signal then use any 'loop isolator' that is not specifically HART compatible. In...

Reading a Thermocouple with a Partlow MIC 6000 Process Controller
The 10th edition manual is here: http://www.jacksonoven.com/import/default/downloads/MIC6000manual.pdf If the 10th edition was published in 1993, your model is probably celebrating its 20th birthday. Several things could be happening - the front end took a hit and is no longer...

How To Determine a Unknown Connection?
If the device needs to run a protocol, like sending some control character or a couple ASCII characters to start a transmission, you're stuck because you have no idea what the protocol is. If you just want to see if it's spitting out data, like a printer output, then read the text in the 3rd...

Airflow measuring at NTP
Tom, I didn't pay attention to your numbers the first time around, but when I did the 2nd time, I found your velocity number doesn't make any sense. I seem to recall from some years back when I did some duct velocity work that the minimum measurable velocity with a pitot was around 800...

Are These Valid Modbus Addresses?
> but when I use 40049 I do get the same value as their web page reports. 1) The leading numeral 4 in a register number, like 40050, is for people only. It tells the reader that the value is in a holding register because holding registers have historically been designated 4xxxx and lately...

Rosemount 3202 Hydrostatic level system : Looking for More Spare Parts
To the best of my knowledge, a housing like Adalet sells is just that, a housing. If there are epoxy encapsulated components in the 3202, those components were installed by Rosemount or whomever made the 3202 for Rosemount. If you buy a housing, that's all you get - a painted, machined...

Rosemount 3202 Hydrostatic level system : Looking for More Spare Parts
Mr Peterson took the words out of my mouth. I can't begin to imagine how a cast aluminum housing could affect an electronic module with no moving parts. It is far more likely that the action of moving the printed circuit board set from one enclosure to another restores connector or wiring...

Radar Level Transmitter in Fiber Board Factory
Instrumentation manufacturers use two different types of non-contacting radar technology. Pulse radar tends to react more quickly than FMCW (frequency modulated continuous wave) radar to sudden changes in distance/level. That's important to take into account in how the level changes and...

Issue with a Siemens 331 AI card
> The 4-20 mA signal from the Red Lion up to the AI card is also good. Does this mean that a milliammeter can read a reasonably correct 4-20mA current signal at the pair of wires that connects to the Siemens 331? Or can you measured the voltage drop across the 331 input connections, for...
