When 2 out of 3 poles of the circuit breaker of a Generator are closed
Santanu... The disturbance question I replied to was just the opposite of what you described, and I apologize for the misunderstanding! Addressing your situation; is the faulted-breaker you referred to the 220kV breaker connecting the GSU to the transmission-line? Phil Corso

When 2 out of 3 poles of the circuit breaker of a Generator are closed
Santanu... if closure of the faulted-breaker at the instant both the generator-side PTs and the 330kV-side PTs (or those on both-sides of the faulted breaker) indicate they are "Synchronized" then nothing should happen! But, as soon as armature-current increases because of an action by the...

How to calculate load power demand in the 3 phase power system?
Minh… your approach seems enthusiastic but I question your Electrical Power Engineering knowledge! I suggest contacting companies like Siemens, ABB, and others, that provide SECC apparatus! Contact me off-list if you want a technical critique of your solution! Sincerely, Phil Corso [...

3-Phase unbalanced power calculation
EE... secondly, how were the Ohm measurements taken? Were they made with the delta intact, or were you able to isolate the three heating elements? Phil

3-Phase unbalanced power calculation
EE... the measured ph-ph resistances, i.e., 20.0, 27.0, 20.4 don't agree with those calculated from the kW values and voltage you cited. For example the R related to the 9.0 kW heating element is V^2/(1000 x 9.0) = 25.6 Ohms! If the rated voltage is 460 instead of 480, then the calculated R...

Generator selection
Generator… following is a procedure you can follow: 1) Determine the area, A, swept out by the fan blades A = pi x (D^2)/4), where D =blade diameter 2) Determine the air velocity, V, of the air flowing through Area A! I’ll leave that up to you! 3) Determine the mass, M, of the air...

reactive power and fuel consumption
Prasad... your explanation is in error because even though kVA, hence armature-current, increases, the amp-to-torque analogy doesn't apply! In fact, for a 3-ph near-terminal fault the generator will speed up because the load kW is suddenly lost! Hopefully you will conduct a study to...

what happens if turbine rated power is smaller than gen nominal power

what happens if turbine rated power is smaller than gen nominal power
S.Zoghby, is absoluly correct. 1) There are qualified millrights that can properly couple and align the two machines! 2) I'm sure generator loss at the reduced load won't significantly impact efficiency! 3) I'm also sure that as long as generator output does not exceed the turbine's...
