Rutjoe... I apologize for not asking the following question earlier: Are you talking about a single-bank used for Power Factor Correction (PFC) for an industrial plant, or one associated with a Transmission & Distribution system provider? Phil

Generator Phase Currents
Arafatco… 3-phase diode rectifiers, if uncontrolled and not fitted with a load inductor, will result in some unbalance of its supply line- currents. Unbalance magnitude is very dependent on the degree of source voltage variation, resulting in a significant third harmonic! The harmonic...

Power flow control
Mariachy... I am pretty much old fashioned; I prefer face-to-face (so-to-speak) communication. So, send me your full name, your school, your location, and the work you have done, thus far! I can reciprocate by sending an abridged or full version of my Professional Background! Regards, Phil Corso

Power flow control
Mariachy... No! Obviously I can’t solve it for you, but... You must have already developed the expression for power transfer between buses 1 and 2 for a specific condition, i.e., P1, Q1 at bus 1, and P2, Q2 at bus 2! Surely the iterative procedure was used to calculate bus 2 from the given...

Transformer Impedance
Aj... No! Losses do not decrease as frequency decreases. Instead, they increase! Have you considered the often used Caveat, "Maintain V/F constant when a transformer is connected to an accelerating, but energized, generator!" The exact caveat is used in the operation of VSDs or VFDs...

Woung rotor slip ring motor principle
The following comments address your 18-Jan answers: 5. Can you provide motor temperature (while ambient is 40C) by embedded T/C, embedded RTD, or carcass measurement? a) I should have said “sparking” instead of arcing! I meant the continuous sparking (it may not be visible) between the...

Ben... this problem is not going to be solved with an exchange of posts. The numbers you have produced so far are not indicative of a serious electrical problem. That said, please send me photos of the motor installation, especially the slip-ring compartment: cepsicon[at]AOL[dot]com

Woung rotor slip ring motor principle
Ben… Following are a series of questions/actions to aid your investigation: 1. What are the motor’s rated parameters as given on its nameplate? 2. What were the measured variables given with the Motor Analyzer? 3. What are the motor’s operating parameters (V, A, kW, Speed, Temp)today...

Wanted: Simple and Inexpensive Automated Pump Control System Solution
Tony... amperage-measurement represents a poor control method, if supply voltage fluctuates. The reason is a running motor is a constant kVA machine, i.e, if supply voltage goes up, current goe down, and vice-versa. For this situation, then, power-measurement should be used. Regards, Phil...

DesertRancher... following are two suggestions based on the details you furnished: 1) Using Level or Over-flow Detection at the Tank. In an earlier life I manufactured SIS systems. One of the components was called Smart-A-Larm. It monitors the status of field-located contacts. In your case...
