Calculating Cable Size
Hemal... you need not concern yourself with the terms delta or wye. The pertinent requirements are amperes, material, single or 3-phase, voltage, and some installation details. I suggest you search the Control.Com Archives, starting with thread # 10262367721 ! Regards, Phil Corso

Triggering an AC soleonid with DC
Phil... deriving a DC power pulse from an AC source is erratic because the triggering point along the AC waveform is random. Thus, the current ramp-up is not consistent. Regards, Phil Corso

Load shedding
Mehdi... IEEE Std 100 defines "Load Shedding" and a number of IEEE Std’s discuss it, but none provide a step-by-step procedure. Power providers and Protective Relay vendors have their own methodology using Protective Relays, in conjunction with PLCs, applied to system disturbances such as...

Generators and leading power factor
Ronak... I disagree with your position that the generator's kW output can be (arbitrarily) extended to its nameplate kVA rating @ unity power-factor! The generator's output is restricted by the prime-movers capacity! Regards, Phil Corso

Two ESD causes from single transmitter
Amin... One possible scenario follows: If instrument's contacts are "held-closed" when monitored condition is 'Normal', then for a common-mode failure, such as loss of power, the resultant output-action will certainly be confusing! Regards, Phil Corso

Transformer Turn Ration/Voltage Ration
Aryan... please provide some detail: 1) Manufacturer of Instrument? 1-ph or 3-ph? What is instrument's output test-voltage? Are Input/Output voltages printed-out, or only ratio value? Finally what is calculated error? 2) Were open-circuit and short-circuit tests also performed on...

Transformer Turn Ration/Voltage Ration
Aryan... following is a corrected Par C): C) Turns-ratio (3-ph xfmr) Note, that for Yd winding-configuration the Turns-ratio's are not equal to the Voltage-ratio's because Np is proportional to phase-voltage (line-to-neutral) while Ns is proportional to line-voltage (line-to-line). Thus, for...

Transformer Turn Ration/Voltage Ration
Aryan... first I want to clear up a two misconceptions: (a) the numerical index ('hour' number) representing the phase displacement between the primary and secondary voltages is not at all involved in determining neither Voltage or Turns-ratio's; and (b) a 3-phase D-Y or Y-D conventional power...
