Voltage Problem 3 Phase Generator
Tom kinczel, Previously, did you not have to manually adjust voltage when switching voltage outputs? When did this problem start? Can you provide any information about the generator and AVR (manufacturer, model number, etc.)?

gas turbine purge air
As in the previous reply, purge air is used to push out any combustible gases (vapours) in the fuel nozzle, for cooling the fuel nozzles, AND to prevent backflow of hot combustion gases into the fuel nozzles and manifolds which can result in circulating hot combustion gases between combustors...

Chiranjeevi, I would have to see the relevant P&ID to comment; there have been several different schemes employed over the years--all similar, but slightly different.

What is it that you need ToolboxST for? How many turbines and HMIs are on the full ToolboxST project file? SOME HMIs have ToolboxST installed on them but if the "Master" ToolboxST project file can't be accessed then the local HMI could be used to upload the ToolboxST configuration from the...

Trip Oil Gradually Drop
VKGUPTA, The Subject line of this thread states a gradual drop in pressures, but there are not details in the post about how long this drop in pressure has been going on. A week? A month? Three months? The Main L.O. Pump is generally a positive displacement pump inside the Accessory Gear...

isochronous and droop
Chiranjeevi, While you're plotting DWATT and CTIM, also plot CPD, TTXM and TTRX. You can set the plot to record at the slowest possible rate (I forget what that is for Trend Recorder, or Trender) because you don't need high resolution (which will consume a lot of hard drive space). You can...

isochronous and droop
Chiranjeevi, When producing power at rated frequency, the axial compressor (of a single-shaft heavy duty gas turbine) is running at a constant speed. When producing power while operating at Base Load (CPR- or CPD-biased exhaust temperature control) the IGVs are at maximum operating angle...

Off base LO Skid Drain SOV 20QA-2
SP, Have you looked in the unit Operations & Service Manuals, in the Liquid Fuel section, to see if there's any information there about the off-base L.O. skid for the liquid fuel pump? And, possibly what the purpose of 20QA-2 is? Also, could it be that one possible reason for the off-base...

SP, Thank you for your answers. I didn't mean to imply that I was going to be contacting BHEL about this issue. I was just stating that if the problem were at my site I would be taking the three actions I mentioned. Certainly, BHEL, as the "designer" of this skid, would be the best...

SP, All GE-design Frame 5 machines, and their look-alikes, are not identical. Many GE-design Frame 5 heavy duty gas turbines were packaged by many different companies over several decades, and the auxiliaries were quite often different--but provided the required functionality to control and...

Level Switch Selection for Solid to Avoid Chute Jamming
Sandeep_ecengineer, What kind of "solid" is being run through the Cone-crusher? There are different switches which work better for different materials. Is the cone-crusher producing material of the proper size? Is the process which uses the output of the cone-crusher subject to frequent...

CPD is SO critical to DLN control that the unit cannot be operated safely and without damage that the protection trips on low CPD readings. Possible causes for low CPD readings are plugged sensing lines, manual isolation valves not fully opened after off-line compressor water washes and...

Issues with Power Generation when in Sync with the Utility Supply
It sure seems, from the information provided, that when the DECS is transferred to PF control that it is not seeing the reactive current change--the signal from the CTs, usually. AND, we know the PF is going very low--but we DON'T KNOW if it's going in the LEADING or LAGGING direction. (I...

C^2, The above descriptions are not intended to be 100% complete--the topic is too big and there are too many signals to cover precisely how each one is handled in detail. We can always discuss individual signals if necessary. As for being relative to Mark V or Mark VI, the original poster...
