Operating GE 9E on DLN Mode with Liquid Fuel
mehaniclese_2010, There is no Premix mode for liquid fuel. It just doesn't lend itself well to sufficient atomization to allow premixing as is done with natural gas. As for the long-term effects of operating with liquid fuel in Lean-Lean mode, please consult GER-3620. Here is a recent link...

HMI Crashing
saiful_32, As a fresher, let's correct some things first. The Mark VI doesn't run on MS-Windows XP, the GE Mark VI HMI runs on MS-Windows XP. The Mark VI(s) can run without a GE Mark VI HMI (they're difficult to control and monitor, but they can and do). There are multiple companies that...

UV Flame Detector Working - Honeywell -LG1093AA
kishore, Okay; I'm guessing DLN-2, or some perversion of DLN-2, and that probably means a Frame 9, F-class. Since these are UV flame detectors I'm guessing the unit is older, since most newer turbines use the 4-20 mA Reuter-Stokes SiC Flame Trakkers (or Trackers) not the 335 VDC UV flame...

Exciter AC Line Filter Burnt on Startup
solidus1975, My definition of a weak fuse is that it has been stressed many times (frequent operation with currents very close to the fuse's rating), and/or it's old (several years or even decades). But I would not recommend changing fuse ratings, especially if you're considering changing...

GE Mark VI/VIe HMI and Software Questions
ToolboxST requires a UPD (USB Protective Device). Without a UPD you can't open the Mark VIe configuration application. The only way I know of to get a dongle is to buy a copy of ToolboxST from GE or one of its packagers. People need to remember that just because something can be transmitted...

Toolbox and Workstation in MarkVIe
automation_engr, Demigrog/Demigrog2 is a much better resource in GE HMIs than I am. They are just too unnecessarily complicated and poorly documented. I can barely contain my disdain for GE HMIs; they are a necessary evil. My understanding of WorkstationST and CIMPLICITY is that...

9E DLN1 - Fail To Go Premix Transfer
kumara, It's not enough to just say, "It doesn't transfer into Premix mode, what could be wrong?" And I want to remind other potential posters this thread is presently about DLN-I combustion systems, which are not like DLN-2.n systems in operation and construction. There are few...

Conditions for Synchronization (Phase Sequence or Phase Rotation)
Smart_S, > Ummm... sorry to seem nit picky, but it's 240 degrees after A phase. Yes: I did a copy-and-paste and didn't correct that; thanks for pointing it out! I meant to say 120 degrees after Phase B. Same difference. The upshot of all this is: The phase...

Conditions for Synchronization (Phase Sequence or Phase Rotation)
Someone's been reading (and copying) www.wikipedia.org.... Generators have their phase leads marked, usually 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 (on all the generators I've been party to installing). And, they're usually designed for a specific rotation (CW or CCW; or Clockwise or Anti-Clockwise). Phase...

Water Injection in Thermal Plants
senecaster, Great question. But, at the risk of seeming like another responder here on control.com, I'm going to ask you a question in answer to your question (which may seem rude under most circumstances--but I hope I can explain why it's not)>. If you're asking this question--again a...

UV Flame Detector Working - Honeywell -LG1093AA
Hertz are Hertz, even for flame detectors. 185 Hz is 185 conductions (shorts) per second. You haven't told us the type of combustors on the machine: conventional or DLN? if DLN, which perversion of DLN? And which combustion zone is the suspect flame detector(s) monitoring if DLN-I? Have...

Exciter AC Line Filter Burnt on Startup
solidus1975, It's a safe presumption that there's something amiss with the AC line filter. I don't have access to any F-class drawings at this time, but you need to determine what elements are in the AC line filter that could be drawing excessive current after some period of inactivity (which...

UV Flame Detector Working - Honeywell -LG1093AA
The type of flame detector (sensor) you are describing is known as a Geiger-Muller flame detector (sensor). There is lot written about it on many places on the World Wide Web. Conduction is a function of intensity, and when conduction takes place, it's essentially a short circuit, which reduces...

Correct Cable for PT-100
amrit1391, Your thought process was flawed, sir. Here's a link to a very good description of RTD wiring methods: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resistance_thermometer The section titled, 'Wiring Configuration' is very informative. The extra leads (more than two, that is) are used to...

Correct Cable for PT-100
theSiemexpert, "Cables" are generally considered to be multi-conductor groups of conductors (wires). RTDs can be two-wire, three-wire or four-wire devices. Meaning they can generally be connected to the monitoring device using two, three or four wires. The number of wires is usually...

Brush Generator Terminal Voltage Getting Low

GE Frame 9FB Air Intake

muz_sidhu, I say--basically--the same thing(s) as before. Either: 1) There's something wrong with the high-pressure liquid fuel pump, or the liquid fuel pump clutch, or the relief valve around the high-pressure liquid fuel pump; OR 2) There's some flow restriction in the liquid fuel...
