Extended Premix Mode
mohamed nawar, >for gas turbine 9fa DLN2.6E why when gas temp reach 17.5 c >unit transfer to extended permix mode? That's an excellent question--for the OEM or packager of your turbine. I presume you are referring to when the gas fuel temperature drops to 17.5 deg C, not when it increases...

Calibration screen for GCV and SRV
Voyager2_kbc, I am presuming you are talking about Demand (User-Defined) displays for stroking/calibrating SRV, GCV and IGV LVDTs. These aren't CIMPLICITY displays--they are TCI displays. That is, they are not pretty graphical displays; they are text-based displays with buttons and variable...

Gas Turbine Low CPD
Sobri, When operating at Base Load (CPD-biased exhaust temperature control) when CPD increases load should increase, and when CPD decreases load should decrease. So, it's very difficult to understand how load increases when CPD...

Diesel Generator Reverse Power Problem
jason005, It's presumed the diesel-generator (generator-set) had been working fine for some time and has just started exhibiting this behaviour. The amount of power produced by a generator-set (prime mover and generator) is directly proportional the amount of energy flowing into the prime...

VC3 Not Following Reference.
muz_sidhu, FQL1 should match FQROUT (sometimes the signal names are different--but the units (lb/sec or kg/sec) should match. If the Speedtronic is calling for 3.2 kg/sec, the fuel flow-rate feedback from the liquid fuel flow divider should be 3.2 kg/sec. At your site, it seems the flow...

Calibration screen for GCV and SRV
Voyager2_kbc, Have a read of this thread: http://www.control.com/thread/1403445367 You are right; something has been done to cause the problem you are experiencing. I'll keep thinking about what could be done to try to undo the thing. In the meantime, get AutoCalibrate up and running...

Droop control
Dignan, There are many power generation references, such as 'Power Generation Handbook' and others. A good way to search for reference books or textbooks by name is to use Amazon.com or Alibris.com and search by topic. The physical principles of AC power systems are all the...

Loadsharing / Reactive Power Problem

Rotational direction of GE F9001e Turbine
Jana, Thanks for the information. And, congratulations--the designers really planned well for plant and personnel safety! Did they think to put an automatic sling to catch the rotor before it falls to the ground, too? That would protect the rotor and anyone or any equipment which might...

Droop control
Based on the information provided, a unit with one or more controlled extractions can't be expected to shed 90% of load quickly while maintaining pressure/flow to the extraction lines. It wouldn't seem that a single controlled extraction should be so difficult to tune, but multiple...

Calibration screen for GCV and SRV
Voyager, It's not clear if you have an or a GE Mark V HMI. The GE Mark V HMIs run MS-Windows and CIMPLICITY. I'm going to presume they are s, and going to suggest the displays were not configured properly >>OR<< the Password Protection is active on one and not on the other...

ST ACV Command and Feedback Difference
Hi, This is yet another excellent example of how electro-hydraulic servo-valves get blamed for all sorts of turbine operating problems and issues. I don't know how the turbine OEM is, but it really doesn't seem to make a difference: lack of understanding about servos and what they do--and...

Firing on Gas - Main Fuel Pump
kwaku, The high-pressure liquid fuel pump clutch should be de-energized any time the unit has successfully transferred from liquid fuel to gas fuel and the unit is operating on 100% gas fuel. This goes for starting the unit with gas fuel selected--the clutch should be de-energized. Now...

Operating a Gas Turbine on FSNL
sggoat, GE-design F-class heavy duty gas turbines are, indeed, delicate "little" machines. They were designed for base load operation; day-in, day-out base load operation. They were not designed for light loads, or even for load following applications, or for daily--or sometimes, twice...

Generation Getting Down to Zero

Operating a Gas Turbine on FSNL
adeel imtiaz, I agree wholeheartedly with MIKEVI--there is no problem running the unit at FSNL for "long" periods of time. I might suggest, though, that the unit be synchronized and lightly loaded (1-3 MW)--this way some electrical power is being produced to offset the cost of fuel...
