GE Frame 9E Liquid Fuel Purge Line
Good on you for reading the manual! If you "erecting" the unit, there is likely at least one GE representative at site. What does GE say about this proposal? Liquid fuel purge air flows all the time the unit is running on gas fuel above 95% of rated speed. Liquid fuel purge air has...

If this is just a theoretical question, and if the original poster was asking about how the speed change would affect the frequency of a synchronous generator, the relationship is defined by the formula: F = (P * N)/120 where, F = Frequency (in Hz0 P = Number of poles of the generator...

What do you mean by "de-rated"? De-rating usually means someone, the owner/operator or the OEM or some other reputable engineering company, has lowered the rated power output for some reason, usually mechanical or because of the available fuel characteristics or if there is a boiler on the...

1) We would need to see the data (VIEW2 data; RealTime Plot trend; etc.). 2) This is good; let the execssive fuel flow condition exist for longer allowing more unburnt fuel to enter the turbine so that if flame is established it will be established in many places all at once. 3) We would...

Changing the HMI for mark V
I believe the ARCnet driver for IDOS does not work with the ARCnet chip on this card. Unless something has changed very recently. If someone has experience with this particular card with the COM20020 chip with IDOS, please share it with us. Also, please provide the CPU manufacturer and...

startup fuel flow excessive
So, you have a method for seeing if the valve stem and plug is actually moving. Does it move during firing (when 20FL-1 is energized and VS1-1 is open)? As for your question about whether or not the unit should be tripped on excessive fuel flow during cranking/purging when 20FL-1 is not...

Different modes of AVR operation
Ashish, That's excellent; you've read the fine manual. A synchronous generator's terminal voltage is a function of the amount of excitation applied to the rotor's windings. At synchronous speed (which is what most synchronous generators should be operated at) which should be stable and for...

Changing the HMI for mark V
Greetings, The operator interfaces you are referring to are called <I> operator interfaces, not HMIs. (GE Mark V HMIs run MS-Windows and a program called CIMPLICITY.) This is not easy, but it has been done. This topic has been covered several times here on control.com; use the Search...

Operating Gas Turbine in RMC Mode
Zihni, from Turkey, Sorry; for me personally, I would need to see the entire F:\UNITn and PROM subdirectories, as well as the F:\RUNTIME directory, to see all the sequencing, BBLs, and animated display item list files. And, even if I had all the files it would be approaching an effort that...

You have told us this is a Frame 5, and *most* Frame 5s don't have LVDTs on the Liquid Fuel Bypass Valve (VC3-1). So, how are you certain the valve is at any particular position, particularly since the valve stem of most GE-design Frame 5 heavy duty gas turbines is not visible to an observer...

Zihni, from Turkey, Your English skills are not bad; I'm just trying to be clear and be sure I understand. Most importantly, we can't be of certain help unless we could see all of the sequencing in the Mark V. There are some other permissives (such as Water Wash not enabled (L83WW) and no...

That's it! The solution to every problem is to replace the Moog servo-valve, and of course re-calibrating the SRV. Even if it's in a completely different fuel system, it always works.

G.Rajesh, We understand that you want to use some means to verify if a servo-valve has actually failed or not and that you want to purchase a servo-valve tester to aid in this effort. I am specifically asking how you will use the tester to accomplish this task. What do you think or what...

Zihni, from Turkey, Mark Vs still using <I>s. And the Mark Vs are apparently also running another purchased option known as PFR (GE's ill-named Primary Frequency Response--which is NOT the same as the rest of the world views primary frequency response!) and RMC (Reserve Margin Control)...

G.Rajesh, I've had a look at the Moog site and found two different servo testers/test kits. Exactly how would you use this test kit? One is pretty much a bipolar output device (neither of the available tester output impedances matches that of the typical servo-valve used on GE-design heavy...

"Data sheet" is still a confusing term for me; I'm not familiar with a "data sheet" that's provided with any GE-design heavy duty gas turbine. Control Specifications, yes; "data sheet", no. I would venture to say from the information provided this looks like a sales and marketing document...
