Igniter Circuit
Thanks for the feedback! However, simply sensing the input current to the igniter transformer isn't going to ensure the output of the transformer is working, or that the igniter is actually firing. And, I don't know of any current-sensing relays that will sense current at the high igniter...

Vibration in bearing becomes alarming when load increases above 25 MW
Accurately analyzing vibration events requires a lot more data than you have provided, and possibly even more that you have access to without additional instrumentation. But, based on the information you provided, the Number 1 Bearing cover was disassembled and reassembled to replace the...

Igniter Circuit
There are many current-sensing relays which will operate contacts based on how much current is flowing in a circuit (or the lack of current, as the case may be). You would need to find a relay that has a suitable range of operation for the amount of current flowing in your igniter circuit as...

Speed of Synchronous Generator
The more I think about this (and I've thought about it a lot), I think Andrew Davidson's response below is the best response to your second statement. Read it carefully; it's very good. If the prime mover's governor is in Isochronous and the load is at maximum at rated frequency and the load...

Mark V HMI .img Image conversion
control.com, like most websites, has a Search function, though it's at the far right corner of the Menu Bar of every single control.com page. Inside the small white rectangle are the words "search the site"; that's a clue that you type the terms/words you are looking for in the box and then...

LVDT reading is not following Moog servo valve command
First of all, one doesn't calibrate the servo-valve, or the LFBV, or whatever device the servo-valve is being used to position. One only calibrates the feedback from the LVDTs installed on the device. It's been a considerably long time since I've worked on a Mark IV, but as I recall the...

E-Stop protective collar
GE, Square D, Telemecanique all make protective collars ("shrouds", "guards", etc.) for their mushroom-head emergency stop push-buttons (in various colors, too!). Any supplier/supply house should be able to look in their catalogs and find a suitable "shroud". An Internet search found this...

Commissioning Speedtronic Mark-VIe
> What are the disadvantages of Speedtronic Mark-VIe? One "disadvantage" of the Mark VIe is that one needs to understand the concept of critical vs. non-critical I/O, particularly with TMR configurations. Also one needs to understand the concept of "primary" and "emergency" trip circuits...

Generator Hydrogen Cooling System
In theory it would seem possible. However, the way most machines are built, meaning the way the internal piping for charging/purging is constructed, CO2 is chosen because of it's weight versus hydrogen and air. Because CO2 is heavier than air it is "injected" into the bottom of the...

flame sensor for tip burner monitoring
I'm not aware of any instrument which could be permanently mounted in a combustion can to observe or detect "problems" with a fuel nozzle tip. And, remember: A GE-design Frame 9E has 14 combustion cans, hence, a minimum of 14 fuel nozzles/tips (depending on the type of combustion system). So, it...

Voltage control on a large power producing generator
Hello, This thread, or at least my response to it, is bound to start some bickering (you have to have been reading similar posts on control.com for years to understand, Rick Fisher), but I'm going to dive in anyway. I waited about 24 hours before posting my response to give others a chance to...
