Error Code 33 On VSVO card Mark IV
When did this problem start? After a maintenance outage? After an LVDT feedback calibration was performed? Contrary to extremely popular belief, the answer to every servo-operated device problem <b>is NOT</b> to "calibrate" the LVDT(s). Have you measured the LVDT voltages (excitation and...

Speed of Synchronous Generator
That's one of your strong points, Rahul P. Sharma. We're still waiting for the frequency readings from the speed pick-ups of the Mark II and Mark V units from your site to see if the two units are running at different speeds while connected to the same grid. And for the Mechanical Dept. to...

MKV Studio
Dudiw, Please provide us with more information when you post about the problem(s) you are having and what you've done to try to resolve the problem(s). Mark V Studio is pretty simple and easy, for the majority of users. I've never had this kind of problem but I really don't understand the...

Speed of Synchronous Generator
This test that ProcessValue has devised <b>does not</b> meet the requirements of the request posed to him. It seems what needs clarification is the definition of "loading" and "unloading" and "electrical load" (or "load"). I will grant that <b>one</b> definition of "load", or "electrical...

Mark V Time sync problem
dinster, I've been following this thread for a while. When did this problem start? Because, since these are Mark V panels and GE Mark V HMIs, they've been in service for a while. So, it would seem that they were all working for some time, and then something changed and now they're not...

Exhaust temp.
As usual, Ayed's post is incomplete as he hasn't told us anything about the unit at his site (Frame size; control system; etc.). I believe he has indicated in past posts that the unit at his site is a GE-design Frame 9E. Most of these units have electric motors for the starting means, driving...

Speed of Synchronous Generator
Attempts are made to try to keep the explanation as simple and real-world as possible, and some assumptions have been made. And we're talking about units with properly acting governors, in any mode (droop or isochronous), and we should be referring to stable grid frequency (unless otherwise...

Frame 7EA Post Outage Emissions Trouble
Justin, My bad for not seeing the GT exhaust NOx reading in the reply. 24.6 ppm would be less than 25.0 ppm which is likely the NOx guarantee for the machine when firing at 2035 deg F. And if I re-read the post again, correctly this time, the 24.6 ppm NOx reading was at 91.47 MW, which is...

Load shedding
Mehdi, Just about any PLC that can be configured to use appropriate inputs and outputs and interface with the other control systems in a plant is capable of executing a load-shedding program. Having said that, I've seen some very expensive PLCs improperly configured, and in addition poorly...

Turning Gear
Sardar9, Late in the 1980s, GE and their packagers developed and started supplying air-cooled generators for use with Frame 7E/EA and Frame 9E heavy-duty gas turbines instead of hydrogen-cooled generators. The air-cooled generators are physically larger than their hydrogen-cooled...

Ayed, The pressure regulator used for setting and maintaining the Generator Hydrogen Seal Oil Pressure (often referred to as the Seal Oil Differential Pressure Regulator) is a typical single-stage, spring-loaded pressure regulator, of which a fine example can be found at www.wikipedia.org by...

Alarm Voltage Unbalance after Trip
It's not very clear the sequence of events, and I have never seen the Diagnostic Alarm you have alluded to. Precisely, what was the exact Diagnostic Alarm that was annunciated? Also, are there any grounds on the 125 VDC battery? What is the voltage split of the incoming 125 VDC supply (as...

GE 7FA DLN2.6 compressor discharge temperature (CTD)
I would attribute the very slight (10 deg C) differential in temperatures to differences in how the CTD T/Cs are inserted into the machines. I would venture a guess that if T/C "rakes" were used in the compressor discharge of both machines that the differential would be much less than that...

Doubts are not good things; please read the Oxford English Dictionary definition of doubt to understand why. Questions and curiosity we can handle; doubts are out. I would ask you to tell us how you view each relationship, and we can work from there.

Mark V alarm
You're welcome. Adding inputs and outputs was covered in one of the Mark V manuals, either the Maintenance Manual (GEH-5980) or the Application Manual (GEH-6195). Please read that information, combine it with what you have already learned, compose a procedure, post it here, and we can refine it.

DOS Commands to erase Data in MARKV Printer
Shutting down a Mark V is kind of unusual, but, hey...every site is different! If you are going to be shutting down your Mark V, I suggest you shut off the printer first, and then "shut off" the Mark V. Then, on the <I> exit to a command prompt and type the following command, then press...

Frame 7EA Post Outage Emissions Trouble
And now for another overly long response.... NOx formation is a function of diffusion flame temperature, so if the NOx is high then the flame temperature (and likely the firing temperature--the temperature of the combustion gases exiting the first stage nozzles of a Frame 7E or -7EA) is...

Ayed, Your posts are very difficult to understand. We don't know what kind of "turning gear" your turbine has for cooldown operation. Many people refer to cooldown operation as "turning gear" even though the shaft is being ratcheted periodically, or on older machines the shaft speed was...

GE MKV EX2000 Sync Issue
You're welcome for the information. The LEDs do have a meaning, but the meanings changed when PROM revisions changed. And, to my knowledge, there is no 'secret decoder ring' for the LEDs, and if there were, it would be specific to the PROM revision in use on the card. The LEDs do change...
