In my new plant i have to purchase a control valve. The application is pressure control of propane gas. The inlet pressure is 40 kg/cm2g and the required output is 2 kg/cm2g. is it possile to reduce this much pressure (i.e. 38 kg/cm2) using 1 control valve? Please give me some guidance and alternate options.

 

You need to provide more information so that a sizing calculation can be done. Please provide information of operating conditions as follows: Normal temperature, Gas Density, Specific Heats Ratio, Pipe Size and Schedule and Flow Rate (All at operating conditions).

You could possibly have a choked flow condition or a high noise condition with the dp given. Process conditions above will enable this to be determined.
