At substation, we have PLC which is communicating on modbus-TCP/IP protocol. At remote substation we have modbus to IEC-104 gateway having modbus configured as master device. Now i want to transfer data from PLC to Remote substation through GPRS. can you guide us how we can trasnfer data through GPRS modem? if we want to transfer data through GPRs modem is modem protocol specific? or we need router or other device? is it possible to transfer data without router? please guide me how we can achieve it and which modem we can use. which hardware/software require for GPRS modem connectivity? does modem support TCP/IP or is it protocol specific?

You can use wavecomm GSM modem. You can connect it to the available Serial Comm port of the PLC and configure it with some AT commands, also configure it on the receiving end (gateway in this case). I had used it in a remote flow computer to collect data and it worked very fine. You'll primarily need a Data enabled SIM card for it.
