I use it daily on VMware (windowsXP) under Windows and there's no problems at all. But VMware (windowsXP) on Linux, STEP7 just reports that "the communication link to the adapter is damaged" even though it recognizes the device fine. anybody who has some ideas about what's wrong?

I thought that USB communication was completely the same on Windows and Linux?

Maybe you need to try playing with the PG/PC settings in the windows control panel. The only time I've used the USB adapter (a few years ago) I remember having to mess around there quite a bit. I don't know why it would be any different when using linux though. I take it you're only plugging the adapter in once the vmware setup is
running?
