Industry White Paper

QM22 Optical Encoder with Commutation

October 28, 2020 by Quantum Devices

In this whitepaper from Quantum Devices, learn how the QM22 serves several different sectors including military, commercial, and medical systems.

Whitepaper Overview

Today’s motion control industry requirements increasingly depend upon miniaturized components that maintain all the features and functions of similar products in larger package sizes. Quantum Devices took on this challenge with the development of an encoder to fit a NEMA 11 BLDC servo motor. The design goals Quantum Devices set out to accomplish were to provide outstanding optical incremental signals and commutation signals to reduce motor envelope size (as well as minimizing cabling requirements).

The QM22 commutation encoder consists of a modular, bearingless design that features an easy-to-install Lock-n-Twist assembly method. With its hermetically sealed LED and Quantum Devices’ patented sensor design, the QM22 optical encoder is designed to maximize performance and reliability in its miniature package.

In this whitepaper from Quantum Devices, learn how the QM22 serves several different sectors including military, commercial, and medical systems.
