Emerson Announces NI Product Advancements With AI Tools

Emerson’s Test and Measurement business has released key updates to its NI software and hardware products featuring AI tools designed to increase engineering efficiency.

Emerson presented its latest NI hardware and software advancements at NI Connect 2024, a conference for clients, partners, and business executives. These newest innovations are designed to enhance engineer productivity by enabling users to focus more on root-cause investigation and cross-functional teamwork.

NI Technology Advancements

Ritu Favre, group president of Emerson’s Test and Measurement business, stated regarding the new technology, “Our software-centric, modular hardware approach to test is our unique value proposition and a differentiator for our customers. We are excited to share our vision for harnessing the power of AI in test and measurement and to continue our commitment to innovate on our industry-leading NI products.” 

Emerson also reassured customers of its commitment to supporting research and development on its core NI products. The company unveiled new technology advancements for LabVIEW, LabVIEW Community Edition, InstrumentStudio Professional, and PXI hardware.

Improvements to NI LabVIEW

NI LabVIEW is a graphical programming platform used to build automated test systems. It can be utilized for tasks such as acquiring data from control systems, monitoring or interacting with tests, and developing programs using a graphical interface. It has a wide range of applications beyond these examples.

At NI Connect 2024, it was announced that the latest LabVIEW iteration is focused on collaborative engineering workflows and includes version management and support for .NET Core assemblies. Additionally, Emerson shared that AI could be integrated with LabVIEW to increase worker efficiency by automating code description and documentation. 

Emerson also announced that students can now use NI LabVIEW Community Edition for free and that certain parts of NI LabVIEW will become open source to encourage collaboration across the test and measurement community.

 

NI InstrumentStudio Professional Release

Emerson's NI InstrumentStudio Professional will become available in July 2024. InstrumentStudio is application software, and the latest release, InstrumentStudio Professional, is designed to function with NI LabVIEW and TestStand. It will enable users to interact with multiple instruments simultaneously to monitor and debug automated test equipment. The updated software is designed to decrease development time, increase efficiency, and help users transition from setup to automated validation more quickly.

NI PXI Hardware Additions 

Emerson's hardware advancements include the introduction of the NI PXIe-5633 Vector Network Analyzer add-on module, the PXie-6571 Digital Pattern Instrument, and a new line of controllers featuring the 11th generation of Intel Core Processors. 

 

Intelligent Test and Measurement 

Since it acquired National Instruments, Emerson has shown continued commitment to expanding NI technology. The acquisition has grown Emerson's test and measurement portfolio, and the latest advancements in NI software and hardware aim to continue serving customers. According to Favre, "Through our innovative, secure, and expert-led approach, we (Emerson Test and Measurement) will revolutionize intelligent tests across the industry."
