RoboDK and Comau Deliver Next-generation Robotic Simulation

March 24, 2024 by Bob Odhiambo

The latest collaboration between RoboDK and Comau gives users enhanced, user-friendly robotic simulation and offline programming with Roboshop Next Gen software.

RoboDK, a leader in offline programming and simulation, has partnered with Comau, a global leader in robot manufacturing and advanced automation solutions, to improve robotic programming and simulation. The partnership combines RoboDK's advanced simulation capabilities with Comau's Roboshop Next Gen software.

Roboshop Next Gen Software

Comau’s Roboshop Next Gen software suite is integrated with RoboDK to provide users access to a variety of additional capabilities. With the integration, users can import 3D models, seamlessly program and simulate robots using advanced CAD to path features, avoid singularity, use brand-agnostic offline programming, detect collisions, use multiple robot cells in the same project, integrate with external axes like linear rails and turntables, use advanced simulation features like grippers and conveyors, and enjoy improved CAD/CAM software integration.

For robot programmers, the partnership's integration improves capabilities and streamlines workflow with Roboshop Next Gen simulation and the intuitive programming interface from RoboDK. This means that programs can be easily created and virtually executed before the real robot's deployment, further opening doors for using Comau robots for advanced manufacturing applications like 3D printing or robot machining.

Support for Realistic Robot Simulation (RSS)

Together, with the technical benefits resulting from integrating the two solutions from the companies, the partnership adds support for RSS, which offers precise estimations of cycle times and paths. With the help of RSS, businesses can clearly understand how their robots behave for a more streamlined operation as cycle time information and a detailed understanding of the robot's behavior can be acquired. This makes it possible to construct programs through intuitive methods using RoboDK and execute them in a virtual control simulation through Roboshop Next Gen before implementation on the physical robot.
