HMI for Bailey System (Infi-90)

I would like to know about HMI (windows based) systems supplied by various parties which can be connected to Infi-90 distributed control system. It is necessary that the conversion of graphics and databases of Bailey system must be automatic.

The configuration would be economical and not have down times.

Standard options offered by ABB (the supplier of Infi-90 system) consist of the following:
-Conductor VMS running on HP OpenVMS workstations (not really a good option because they are at the end of their life cycle)
-Conductor NT running on Windows NT (these are getting towards the end of their life as well but Conductor NT 5.0 was only released last year)
-OperateIT portal B (this is the current option)

In the long run I believe ABB are going to combine OperateIT portal A and portal B to be a common solution and use an OPC interface to collect data from the Infi-90 network.

Well there are a number of options for a HMI for the Bailey Infi90 system, in fact it is basically unlimited. If you use an OPC interface you can use any OPC compatible HMI. As third party solutions go I believe that Citect is
probably the most widely used option. http://www.citect.com/

As far as automatic conversion of graphics this will depend on what form the existing graphics exist in. Also I have never seen a operator station graphics conversion that has been 100% successful. It will be expensive and
even with an automatic conversion utility you will need to manually check each graphic and you really need to recommission the graphic.

Ready engineering has been replacing obsolete Bailey operator consoles for years. We have replaces systems with as many as 30 nodes down to single and dual node systems. Have a look at our website, http://www.readyengineering.com and drop me an email to [email protected] if you would like more information on the options available.

Although there exist a tool for converting the graphics called 'nomad', it is best practice to convert the graphics manually.

By doing an automated conversion, you'll end up with tons of (useless) submodels and you loose the benefits of the new graphics features introduced with OperateIT.

We went through the migration process and converted the graphics manually. Once you have created good submodels, conversion of the graphics itself is an easy task.
