Has somebody used Emerson CHIPTOPI package for porting data on Alphastation 255 VMS 7.2 to OSISOFT PI? How do we:

1 - Start the conversion?
2 - How can we define client setup and passwords, etc.?
3 - How can we access this data on remote PC with Microsoft Excel?

Can you elaborate - are you asking how to set up an Emerson CHIPTOPI interface to OSISOFT PI or how do you get historical data from your Alphastation into OSISOFT PI (i.e. back populate). Maybe both?

What system do the client setups and passwords refer to?

Which systems' data are you trying to access via Excel i.e. is it the OSISOFT PI Data.

I am wondering was this issue resolved? Also if you are still running on an Alpha you may want to consider running it on an Intel or AMD platform by using Charon. Refer to:

The issue still stands . Last week i was with Emerson NL who have a good training facility for Provox couses. I could not find an encouraging answer to this problem.

Actually we are running a Polyester chip plant on Provox system. We require to port data from Chip (data historian) to an external machine where we want to build product traceability.

Some time back Emerson installed a CHIPTOPI software on Alpha machine to get data from data historian.But i heard that it never worked . I i can run CHIPTOPI converter on alpha then it will be addressable by external PIDATA LINK . Can you extend any help??

Running alpha on Charon or STROMASYS emulator will not resolve this issue. I still need guideline for running CHIPTOPI on my alpha. Files are already there but i try to run it, error messages appear.

 

I have further issues . My running alpha is out of order i need charon emulator for my AS 255 system. So you have good experience with it?? . Is it reliable and historian runs well ??
