110 vdc solenoid valve
ZiadAlwr If the load is resistive then measurement proposed above is adequate. But if the load is inductive then current will be less! I suggest you measure temperature of the coil! Regards, Phil Corso

@gps82... The high resistance indicates to me that perhaps its used for heating concrete slabs for plazas or the like! I used something like it in 1962 for the Pay-Plaza of the Verrazzano Bridge in New York City! Phil Corso

Generator tripping on differential protection relay
@ajb8787... Welcome to Control Automation There a relatively simple way to set an "87", and "87N", but it depends on experience of those doing it! If you, or others in your facility, are confident that working around a live, rotating machine but separated from the load bus, I will post the...

@aqib... Another "PRETECT" Statistic: It was installed in a Nuclear plant, BG&E in Maryland. No, not the reactor, but its Ancillary units consisting of 6 BFW pumps, and 2 Steam Turbine Generators! After a run of about a year, EPRI Study NP-5416s, concluded "PRETECT" could increase the On-Line...

Honeywell Safety Manager Quadruple Modular Redundancy
@aqib... Another "PRETECT" Statistic: about 4,000 Input Sensors and Output Actions! The idea began after having been assigned a 3-month start-up of the 1st LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) plant, in La Spezia, Italy. I left 7 years later, having literally "exploded" the old belief that a "false trip...

Getting electrocuted when touching metallic parts when a UPS is connected to the supply
@dhvinay 3) I should have said "Plug-in the UPS (with a Load) into that receptacle!" Then, repeat for next receptacle and so-on, until you find the cause! Regards, Phil

Three phase induction motor failure
@ahmedsaad85 The stator winding failed to earth (ground)! That is why I always recommend very large LV or your 11kV Motor, protection from such events. In what country did this happen. I can recommend a proper solution! Regards, Phil Corso (PE, Semi Retired)

Getting electrocuted when touching metallic parts when a UPS is connected to the supply
@dhvinay I pray that your non-reply stance doesn't mean you've been electrocuted! The following instruction will help reveal the problem! 1) Open all breakers in power-panel. 2) Close one powering the closest receptacle to the panel. 3) Plug-in the UPS (and Load)! Repeat for next receptacle and...
