How to achieve Parallel Operation of More than 1 Diesel Generators (Common Gen Bus ) and Utility Transformer
owais766 Two more considerations: 3. I'm excluding LV, 380V systems 4. No, not low Impedance grounding! Instead, Distribution-Xfmer-Grounding. It was covered in an earlier Forum. When I find it I'll provide details?

How to achieve Parallel Operation of More than 1 Diesel Generators (Common Gen Bus ) and Utility Transformer
owais766 When the neutrals of a group of generators in parallel are solidly-earthed, then the following should be considered: 1. Earth-Fault current at any location will be the total of all, limited only by the magnitude of the Fault impedance at the fault location. Thus, discrimination, as to...

Is Speed sensors considered SCE in Fire water Pump
HSH5757... Welcome to Control Automation My copy of NFPA-70, 2017 version, does not contain the term "SCE". Can you provide the source that does? My opinion is a speed problem with an engine-driven fire-water pump will be revealed as a water pressure problem! Best wishes to you and yours in this...

I don't know if the capacitance of a capacitor is large, the capacitor will discharge with a larger current than other capacitors with the same voltag
LeVanw... To be clear I assumed by "Current" you meant that capacitors charged at Voltage "E" are discharged by providing a conducting-path between its terminals! That path can be a resistor, inductor, even shorting it! If so, then the answer to your question is "YES"! Phil

I don't know if the capacitance of a capacitor is large, the capacitor will discharge with a larger current than other capacitors with the same voltag
leVanw... Welcome to Control Automation! If you are speaking of an RC circuit the current discharge rate is not proportional to capacitor size. However the circuit's time-constant, RxC, is used in an exponential decay calculation for current discharge! Let us know If you need additional info...

Generator Tripping on Seismic Probe
Mutahir... Last question (I promise)! 5. How about details on generator enclosure: Drip proof; TEFC; air cooled with air from non-hazardous area. If the latter what is shaft-bushing material? If your answer is positive, then the problem could be related to something called the "MORTON" effect...

Generator Tripping on Seismic Probe
Mutahir... 1. Do the trips occur with some regularity with regard to activity, such as shift change? 2. Do the trips occur with some regularity with regard to time of day? 3. Are there other physical operations, such as heavy construction, occurring nearby? Regards, Phil Corso

Can we use LCI without turning gear ?
@Samsoon Welcome to Control Automation! The simple answer to your question is yes. The typical LCI uses the Generator, first as a Motor to accelerate, then it becomes a Generator. Neither has to be in motion prior to a cold startup. The answer was presented in Mr. Niazislam's question to this...
