Hahaha! The joke of the month......using ChatGPT for technical information.......... Looking forward to the next one that makes the same mistake!

Struggle to Communicate with Various Energy Meters on the same Cable
What jschulze said about adding a 3rd conductor (gnd) is a good one. You have already a pretty long cable. Did you terminate the end of the cable with a 120ohm resistor between the A and B line of the modbus? Since you already have a pretty long cable with 23 meters you could try using a proper...

Maybe it is a good idea to contact the supplier where you bought this equipment first.

Energy Metering Communicating Gibberish & Incorrect Info over Modbus RTU
I also don't understand why you need more addresses for total power. I work a lot with thyristorunits and all data is always integers (either signed/unsigned). Can it be that you need to swap low/high order data in the registers?

Energy Metering Communicating Gibberish & Incorrect Info over Modbus RTU
Also make sure you don't screw yourself by forgetting the modbus offset. In some implementations, when you try to read address 4xxx01 from a device (4xxx01 is in the official modbus list of the device supplier) you should in your case actually read 1 address higher (!) so you have to read...

Energy Metering Communicating Gibberish & Incorrect Info over Modbus RTU
Yesyes. I learned the hard way that I often solve the problem in my head when I try to explain the problem to other people. Same went with you and I'm glad you are on the right track. You didn't got communication errors so you were receiving the data right, it is just a matter of interpretation...

Energy Metering Communicating Gibberish & Incorrect Info over Modbus RTU
I'm not 100% sure, but judging from the sparse information you posted I think the data is in float format, but comes in in separate word (16 bits signed/unsigned) registers. From there you need to convert the separate registers into a real (floating point) number. I see something about float in...

head scratcher - PtP RTU runs with Windows box, but only temporarily with PLCs
This is a very good question: you already tested lots of things. And the nearby test within 1 meter rules many cabling issues out. It is obvious that the PLC (which one by the way?) communicates in a way that it is giving trouble to the flowmeter. It overloads it. What can also give problems is...

yes, we have to change the way this forum works. First people have to start a topic with: 1) a real sur and last name 2) direct link to the linkedin profile so we can verify you are a real & serious person working at a technical company 3) the name of the company you work for + address +...

Yeah that is also always what I have in this forum: there is a topic starter with already a very vague name, that gives a vague description of a problem without any brand or model codes. Then you give advice and don't hear anything back..... At least have the courtesy as a topic starter to...

how to adjust PID controller
When you replace the PID controller in a cooling loop: always remember to put the way of PID control to direct type (increase of measurement value leads to increase of controller output value). Most PID controllers are standard configured for indirect type (for heating), so increase of measured...

how to adjust PID controller
First thing I always ask in cases of this: A) what has been changed since the last time it worked ok? B) what has been replaced? Putting the controller on 100% manual output is a very good one. Try to check whether the problem is the electronics or the mechanics. david_2 already gave the...

Temperature CONTROL PID
Please specify to cascade in what kind of medium, or mediums, you want to measure with the Pt100 and up to which temperature. Then they will advise a correct type. Each Pt100 can be calibrated on the temperatures you specify at a certified laboratory, but in this case extra costs and longer...
