RTD failure
I find the easiest thing to do for an RTD failure is to use a potentiometer in place of the RTD, and adjust the pot to obtain an acceptable reading, then use some silicone caulking to prevent the pot from changing position. You can connect the pot directly to the AI of the PLC/monitor...

Causes of Reverse Power in Generators
duongtl, You see the response(s) to the questions. (There weren't any.) Don't know if that means it was clear to amit0612 or intimidating (I hope the former; but I suspect the latter). Anyway, we do what we can. "Feedback is the most important contribution!" (c) here at Control.com. It's what...

IBH Trip
Sir, Without being able to see the EXACT application code (programming) running in the Mark VIe at YOUR site, we can only make recommendations. If we could also see the P&ID for the IBH System we might have more recommendations, also. USUALLY, when there is a problem with the IBH not following...

msalem73, In my personal experience the reason for rebooting is the equivalent of power-cycling (removing and reapplying power; voltage dip; voltage spike; etc.). In my personal experience, the <DACA>s are the worst offender when it comes to dealing with upsets in the power supply THEY...

msalem73, It's your machine and you have done what you want. I don't understand why you are asking about what causes VCMI rebooting, BUT, I don't have any answers for you about that anyway. Please do keep us informed on the status.

IBH Trip
Small_an_Engineer, As ControlsGuy25 says, we need to know more about the machine you are working on. MOST of the GE-design heavy duty gas turbines I have had the pleasure to work on have had air-operated (pneumatic) actuators. Based on the information you provided, it would appear there is...

oussama el, I want to add: Normally, when GE (USA) provides a 125 VDC battery and charger for a Mark* turbine control there is no ground (earth) detection card in or earth condition detected by the battery charger. Earth detection is performed by the Mark*. Many times, unfortunately, when a...

SRV not following TRIP,VPRO alarm: contact exitation voltage test failure
ossama el, The standard is: ANY condition that results in a trip SHOULD have a Process Alarm associated with it. This is just standard good practice--if the unit trips the operator(s) MUST have an alarm to indicate why. I can't conceive of why there is no alarm. You HAVE NOT told if there...

I can only offer a few things on this thread. If I understand correctly, this is now happening on a second unit. That suggests something common to both machines. Like the earthing (ground) system....? Or, I have seen similar issues when multiple units shared a common 125 VDC battery (never a...

SRV not following TRIP,VPRO alarm: contact exitation voltage test failure
All, I tend to be very hard on GE Belfort--and they usually deserve it (from my personal experience as well as from friends and colleagues who have cleaned up their share of GE Belfort-made messes). But, in this thread I have been wrong. The machine in this thread is a MS5002C--which means...

oussama sel, I don't have access to a Mark VI System Guide at this time. I never see trip inputs connected to a TREG card UNLESS the Mark VI is a SIMPLEX control panel--BUT GE Belfort does smoke really strange configurations which leave me scratching my head for hours sometimes. You need to...

SRV not following TRIP,VPRO alarm: contact exitation voltage test failure
oussama sel, WHAT SIGNAL(S) IS(ARE) FORCED--AND WHY??? I can only use my smarter-than-me-phone at the present time to look at the Alarm List. A study of the Gas Fuel P&ID and the Trip Oil P&ID will probably reveal that unless 20FG-1 is energized and trip oil pressure for the Gas Fuel system...

oussama el, There is almost certainly alarms that are trying to alert the reader to some problem(s). You may have read attentively, but you seem to have missed this extremely important bit: "Anyway, we need the list of alarms to be of any further help--the alarms present at the time the unit...

ControlsGuy25, The topic of CPU SWITCH has been covered before on Control.com. It’s not well-documented by GE (SURPRISED? You should not be…). I think basically it means the designated processor has changed, for whatever reason (in this case, probably because of the hiccup in comm’s between...

msalem73, (I mistakenly posted this in another thread; sorry.) To START a turbine with a TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) Mark VI it is necessary for ALL processors--and the protective processors (the three VPROS in <P>: <X>, <Y> & <Z>) to all be healthy and communicating via the IONET (the...

SRV not following TRIP,VPRO alarm: contact exitation voltage test failure
oussam el, Here's a quick check you can make. Using your multimeter set to at least 200 VDC range, measure from the terminal on the TRPG that one side of 20FG-1 is connected to ground. When the unit is at rest (or on Cooldown), it should read 0 VDC. Now measure the voltage from the terminal on...

Header Pressure Low Switch and Transmitter of GE Frame 9E to Elin 9A5 Generator
Yes; it is probably necessary to close the “blocking” Dragon valve (the one that twists to open and close) and the “Porting” valve. I presume the “Porting” valve is a means of connecting a pressure source for another means of testing and/or calibration. Those GE Belfort French people; they think...
