Modbus RTU Baud rate issue .
There was a very similar issue encountered not too long ago in the following thread. Please follow the suggestions there first. https://control.com/forums/threads/device-works-in-2400-baud-rate-do-not-work-in-9600-baud-rate.50161/ If ModScan is working successfully at 9600 with the Modbus...

Homebrewed software to communicate with measuring device via Modbus TCP
As I've stated previously, I am by no means an expert on the WP8025ADAM, nor any other Wellpro devices or other manufacturers' I/O modules. I recommend that you contact Wellpro for these specific questions regarding their product. That being said, I do have a (seemingly more and more unique)...

Thank you for explaining. Good catch! I now see that in the lower right corner of the first image of Modbus Poll it shows Port 5: 9600-8-E-1 The second image of Modbus Poll shows Port 3: 9600-8-E-1 And in the ModScan Connection Details window it shows Direct Connection to COM6 Baud Rate: 9600...

Could you please explain why you believe this to be the case? If there is a specific indication that the parity setting is incorrect, this could be useful for others encountering similar issues.

PLC to PLC communication (cross or straight)
In general, to connect two Ethernet LAN ports together, a CAT-5 (or similar) crossover Ethernet cable should be used. If one of the Ethernet devices supports Auto MDI/MDI-X operation, then you can use either a straight-through or crossover Ethernet cable. You will need to contact the vendor of...

Modbus implement in bus topology
Yes and no. This is only possible with dual port Ethernet devices that incorporate an embedded Ethernet switch. You cannot use a bus topology with single port Ethernet devices (using a T adapter, for example). To confirm you have an Ethernet connection to your Modbus devices, you can try...

PLC to PLC communication (cross or straight)
By cross or straight cable, I assume you're referring to a CAT-5 (or similar) Ethernet cable, correct? You will not be able to use either a standard or crossover Ethernet cable to connect the RS-232 ports, as neither cable connects the signals of your PLCs' COM ports correctly. See here for...

Device works in 2400 baud rate & do not work in 9600 baud rate
Testing the UPS with ModScan is a very good idea. I also recommend testing your Modbus Master device with WinTech's slave simulator tool - ModSim. If you also have the same baud rate issue when using ModSim, the issue is likely with your Modbus Master device. Regarding your serial communication...

From WinTECH's page here https://www.win-tech.com/html/demos.htm, it states, "All applications available from this site are fully functional time-limited demos." The Extended menu options in ModScan are disabled if you are not connected. In other words, once you click Connection->Connect and...

Homebrewed software to communicate with measuring device via Modbus TCP
I don't fully understand what your goal is here, but assuming you're looking for a Modbus RTU to IEC 60870-5-104 gateway, you may want to look at the following. https://www.moxa.com/en/spotlight/protocol-gateways/iec-101-modbus-to-iec-104/index Also, to make it easier for others (who may have...

Did you check the "Force modbus command 15 and 16 for single-point writes" option under Connection->Connect, Protocol Selections? If the extended options are unavailable, this could certainly only be available in the paid version. But you're receiving an exception response from your encoder...

It appears you have your display options set to long integer in ModScan, which is incorrect. This should be left at the default. I don't have access to my computer right now to tell you the exact setting, but if I recall, I believe the default display option is unsigned or decimal. Did you...

The serial number you're reading is actually correct, 2104000610. Also, all of the other values seem reasonable (such as battery voltage, temp, etc.). For the serial number, you just need to have ModScan interpret it as an unsigned 32-bit integer instead of two signed 16-bit integers. In...

You have successful communications, but it seems you're not getting the expected data back. I recommend that you contact Kubler about this. From what you've shown, the device does not seem to be behaving as it's documentation says it should. Are you able to read correct values for any registers...

Device works in 2400 baud rate & do not work in 9600 baud rate
You need to first ensure that both the UPS Modbus RTU Slave and your device (Modbus Master) have actually been changed from 2400 baud to 9600 baud. Note that some devices require a power cycle for changes to take effect. If one device is currently configured for 9600 baud and the other is still...

Thank you for the additional details and for your results with ModScan. It appears that ModScan is successfully reading registers 40261 - 40270, as there is data shown (even though the values don't seem correct) and the Valid Slave Responses is greater than 0. Make sure to pay attention to the...

Keep in mind that Earth ground and a 0V logic ground are two very different things, and should typically be kept separate. As far as communications is concerned, Earth ground is only used to connect one end of the cable shielding. The RS-485 ground reference and power supplies of all RS-485...

A timeout error is usually due to either incorrect wiring or mismatched configuration settings such as baud rate, parity, or address. You would not see any RX packets at all if the configuration settings do not match. Since you are seeing RX packets (although they are not valid Modbus packets)...

First, confirm you can even communicate with the slave device using Modbus Poll by reading a single register. According to the documentation, the register for Node Address is 40262 (which is the 1-based "PLC address", as Modbus Poll calls it). You can configure Modbus Poll's Read/Write...
