Request for GE Documents for Beginners
Can you give the forum some more information on your plant, model of turbines used and control system, type of operation ( Generation? Simple/combined cycle?). The forum is not really to provide documents but to try and help you and other users to discuss problems. Do you have access to...

High Inlet Air Filter Differential Pressure During Rain
The main thing is the filters need to be as clean as possible. Do you manually blow them down when they are dry? I had exactly the same problem in Brunei where the ambient and rainfall are pretty well the same as you. I don't think that your hot air dryer is a very good idea. I think that you...

Starting Jaw Clutch Disengaging and Engaging During Ratcheting
Take a look at your P&ID. There is a forward power stroke and a reverse freewheel stroke from the Ratchet Sequencing Module. Take a look at your manuals. There should be a description there on how the ratchet operates.

High Inlet Air Filter Differential Pressure During Rain
Yes Curtis, it is a question of maintenance. I have had exactly the same problem. You must keep the filters as clean as possible when they are dry by forcing a blowdown or the exterior dust will absorb the moisture and block the filters. You can blow them down again when they are dry, also...

High Inlet Air Filter Differential Pressure During Rain
I'm sorry but this just won't work with self cleaning filters. It is far too complicated for a simple problem. The best solution is try and keep some of the rain away from the filter.

High Inlet Air Filter Differential Pressure During Rain
Difficult, I've had this problem in a few places. If these are vertical mounted filters sometimes you can build a screen to protect the filters from the rain particularly if you have a predominant prevailing wind direction. Even high humidity, particularly early in the morning, is going to cause...

High Inlet Air Filter Differential Pressure During Rain
Can you give us some more information on the type of air filtration system that you have installed. Is this a self cleaning (Donaldson) system or a traditional changeable element system? Do you have a rain hood or rain eliminator segment installed?

Turbine Bearings Sealing Air Supply Transfer Valve (VA-14)
This valve is operated by Compressor Discharge Pressure (CDP). There should be a setting in your Control or Instrument Spec. which gives you the changeover value. Take a look at your Cooling & Sealing Air P&ID. Unfortunately I don't have a set of Frame 9 drawings to hand. Why do you need to know...

GE Frame 9E
I don't know what control system you are using (maybe you can reply), but Combustion Monitor should see the T/C as "failed" and you could be OK, but there is a possibility that you could get a trip. It is not good to have 2 adjacent T/C failed.

I think you need to do some reading on how Speedtronic works. If you don't understand Temperature Control (and tripping), send me an Email to

and I'll send you a beginners document.

GE Gas Turbine Major Inspection (MI) Scope
Firstly I would look at the criticality of the machine and secondly the cost. It is also to look at the machine component failure history. Sure Exhaust and wheelspace T/Cs will fail but, how many and how often. I tend to look more at points of failure and try to eliminate. For sure to change...

Turbine Control - MARK 6 and MARK 6e
The main difference in MKVIe is Remote I/O. Instead of device I/O coming over analog connections to the MKVI panel to process, a remote I/O module is installed near to the device(es) and the signals are sent to the Control System over Ethernet. This means fewer cables between the turbine and the...
