Fischer and Porter Electronic Process Pressure Transmitters Type 50E
You've probably got about all there is on that transmitter. Here's the statement from ABB's site: "In 1994, Fischer & Porter was acquired by Elsag Bailey Process Automation (EBPA), a strategic union which recognized Elsag Bailey's primary strengths in the distributed systems area and...

Sea Water 84" Carbon Steel Pipe flow meter
You didn't say whether you're talking about clamp-on ultrasonics or in-line. Given the large pipe diameters, I'll assume clamp-on, for financial reasons. The Siemens (former Controatron) ultrasonic works well on steel pipe if there is minimal internal scaling or corrosion. Steel transmits the...

DAQ or modules for temperature sensors
I use Honeywell's HC-900 (a rack) for I/O counts in that range or higher. It's in that category of Process Automation Controllers - rack mounted I/O, power supply, controller card with communications. The reason our plant uses Honeywell is its long history in thermal processing; their cold...

Flow Meter for Sea Water Application
Clamp-on ultrasonics are not limited to metallic pipe, and are routinely installed on lined pipe and all plastic pipe. It's a technology worthy of consideration for such a large diameter pipe.

precise paperless recorder with clamp pins
24 hours at a 1KHz sampling rate is 85 mega words/channel, Check out the white paper here: http://www.dataq.com/applicat/articles/hsda.htm where the author talks about streaming to disk at high rates. Maybe Dataq has something. Be sure to inquire about software used to look through...

precise paperless recorder with clamp pins
A lot of 'dataloggers' use a single amp and a single A/D and multiplex all their numerous channels. The resulting skew between channels can be significant, particularly if time relationship is critical. Shop carefully. Caveat Emptor David

precise paperless recorder with clamp pins
DAQ, I haven't shopped 'high speed' data acquisition in 2 decades but I'm inclined to agree about a digital storage scope to get a 1KHz sampling rate. I'm familiar with paperless recorders and I am unaware of anything faster than 50 Hz (for 8ch) sampling rates, and that's with very iffy...

High frequency DAQ/analog input
> Is there something available on the market that is modbus RTU or TCP? Not that I'm aware of, but I'm not a professional shopper in that 5Khz field. I'm a (relatively) low speed process control HMI & SCADA guy, where 0.1 to 1 second polling rates are fairly standard. 5Khz is not a...

Firmware Update of an embedded system over modbus RTU using serial communication (UART)
I'm aware of one control device that uses Modbus for download and upload of configurations. It uses function codes 20 and 21 to transfer the configuration data. That same device applies firmware updates with a Windows based "loader" application that manages the firmware data download. My...

How to get data from GE power meter EPM5500P via Modbus RTU?
Modbus Plus is a licensed protocol. Modbus RTU is an open protocol. I've never touched Modbus Plus, so I'm not clear on exactly what is needed to bridge Modbus Plus to Modbus RTU but when vendors like Anybus make a Modbus Plus-to-Modbus RTU gateway converter...

Adding a resistor between 24V power supply and DP transmitter
A resistor is needed only if you need to connect a HART communicator to the transmitter. Without a resistor, the HART handheld communicator will be unable to read the HART signal which gets filtered out in the power supply. The transmitter will operate just fine connected directly to the...

Load cell error
1) The totalized weight value could be damped by averaging, the effect being that instantaneous load changes are not instantly reflected in the measurement, but gradually over time. This is not at all uncommon on agitated vessels, where the load cell signal is heavily damped to avoid 'seeing'...

Low velocity flow meter for fluids
If the fluid doesn't have a large percentage of suspended solids, an ultrasonic transit time clamp-on flow meter might see that low a flow. It won't be 'accurate', but it might well see it. Copied exactly from the catalog page for Siemens FUS1010 clamp-on flow meter: Siemens FUS1010...

analog 4-20mA output transmision

RTD input simulator device
I tried a multipurpose field calibrator in the mid '90's which would not produce a 'virtual' resistance on the analog inputs more than half of the devices we had that were RTD inputs. Dumb decade boxes always work if the rotary knobs are set correctly. Maybe technology has improved, but...

Connect 2 transmitter to single thermocouple
Once upon a time, thermocouple devices (xmtrs/recorders/indicators/controller/DSC/PLC/RTU/AI) did a continuity check of the sensor by sending a tiny pulse of current out one thermocouple terminal and looking for its return on the other terminal. The absence of a return current indicated an...
