My crystal ball is cloudy. You don't know until you try it and see. Or you can be conservative and put an isolator in the loop.

Has anyone encountered PROPRIETARY LADDER LOGIC?
Discussions of logic code as intellectual property on the PLCS.net forum seem to conclude that the ownership of the intellectual property of the code depends on the whether the code was developed as 'work for hire' with the customer providing logic descriptions, sequences, and I/O specifics, or...

Wet Leg D/P Transmitter Question
I'm not sure how common it would be as tank level wet leg fill fluid, but Wika lists its glycol/water capillary fill fluid with a SG of 1.22 www.wika.us/upload/DS_ACC_ACS_90_MO_en_us_17070.pdf

Eurotherm PAC and Wonderware
A look at a spec sheet shows that comm protocols are options, so presuming you want to use Modbus you need to check to make sure you have the option code for Modbus (spec sheet shows order codes for updating options). The T2550 can operate as a Modbus slave or a Modbus master. A look at the...

Social Media Solves Networking Problems?
It's fascinating to me that web fora, like this venue, control.com, are not included in the social networking media category. What excludes web fora from social networking category? Who makes the rules? (yeah, I know, the guys with IPO. Money talks.) When an established publisher comes...

Connect facility RS-485 network to Honeywell S7999B Display
Access to Controlinks data . . . The S7810M Modbus module document 65-0249 contains the Modbus register map for the R78xx controller(s), the R7999 registers, and the S7830 first out annunciator (only 2 registers, the first out code and the second, the state bits. Check out page 12 or 14...

TRILOOP
A Rosemount 333 TriLoop is a break-out box for HART. It takes a HART signal an breaks out three HART variables as three 4-20mA signals. The manuals refers to use with a Multivariable or a DP, but I suspect it reads any of the 4 HART variables (primary, secondary, tertiary, quatenary) that...

lube oil tank level
Presumably, the LRV (4-20mA = 4mA) is at the elevation of the lower tap. The transmitter is mounted 210mm lower than the lower tap. To calculate the LRV, the Specific Gravity (SG) of the lube oil is needed. LRV = 210mm (water column) * SG The elevation of the upper tap is the...

Vortex Flow Transmitter communication problem with HART375
Things to check out: 1) Some wise guy assigned some HART address other than zero to the three devices that don't communicate. 2) The three uncommunicative meters are connected to an analog input whose input resistance is less than 230 ohms. Add some loop resistance. 3) Insufficient...

NAMUR - Maximum distance
It depends on how much resistance is being driven at the receiving end, but typically milliamp currents will go hundreds of meters with ordinary industrial copper wiring and a DC power supply supplying the recommended voltage.

Moore 348 Fieldpac Controller
Technically, setpoints do not 'hunt'. Setpoints are fixed and the process variable 'hunts' for any number of reasons. The 348 manual is here: http://tinyurl.com/9g6swbj Try retuning the controller. Find the 'gain' and whatever number it is, divide it by 2, enter the lower value, then...

RS-485, protocol or physical link?
The specs that define the physical layer for RS-485 define the electrical characteristics, not the hardware connectors used. The product manufacturer decides which hardware connector to use, so there's all sorts of variety. I've seen RS-485 on various hardware connectors: screw terminals...

Sending data from two controllers to HMI
The problem is that you're using RS-232, which can not handle 3 devices. RS-232 is, by definition, a point-to-point communications link for only two devices. Should both your processors attempt to transmit simultaneously, the PC's receive line will have garbage bits on it.

Either the Honeywell Trendview model SX (250mm screen) or the QX (100mm screen) paperless recorders can be run on 24Vdc as an option. Either can have an optional, single digital output card with 16 Form A relays: SPNO, 1A 24VDC (non-inductive, internally suppressed).

Interfacing with MODBUS protocol using PC
If your device has a table of registers, like 40001 or 30012 with a description of what is in the register, then it is a Modbus slave device. If your device has provision for assigning it a slave node ID number, then it is a Modbus slave. Modbus masters do not have ID numbers. Most...

Communicating between MODBUS RTU and WAGO
I have no idea what error code 5 is, but here's a list of things that can go wrong with serial communications: - slave module address (DIP switch on ZSG, configured on the Wago end) - baud rate same on both ends (DIP switch on ZSG) - parity has to be the same on both ends - RTU is 8...
