GE Mark V Terminal Boards and I/O Cards
esdauto18, >Above mentioned I/O report and IO.ASG files are same or not. They are NOT the same. The IO.ASG file is required for the operator interface (which are you using: <I> or GE Mark V HMI running some version of MS-Windows and CIMPLICITY?) to be able to compile downloadable files and...

Frank Sun, I can understand how #2 might be another cause, but can you explain how #1 could be a cause? Thanks!!!

Automatic Generation Control
esdauto18, >Can you explain how Mark V or Vie controls the speed of gas >turbine? Well, basically when the unit is generating power there's a speed setpoint, usually point name TNR (Turbine Speed-Reference). And, the Mark* compares the actual speed of the turbine shaft, usually point...

Generator Load Sharing
esdauto18, If you haven't tried the Search feature of control.com, it's fast. The syntax of search terms was well explained by the Nice Moderator, and there is Help available, as well. So, the generators usually driven by GE-design heavy duty gas turbines are synchronous generators (as...

Shyam, Thanks for the feedback. But you wrote you had already tried replacing the SDCC card, so what did you do differently? Or did you use a different SDCC card?

Automatic Generation Control
Technically, the governor of a prime mover is the speed control system. For most GE-design Frame 6B heavy duty gas turbine prime movers, the governor is part of the Mark* turbine control system (the asterisk (*) is meant to represent the trademark GE owns on the name "Mark" and the various...

Automatic Generation Control
jorjani, This is an answer about AGC control. But, we also need to understand what happens at the prime mover governor during a frequency deviation/disturbance. AGC (Automatic Governor Control) can be accomplished in one of several different methods. We don't know which method is being...

Ship Generators in Parallel Problem
Harish, Another thing which could be happening--with the governor--is that whatever kind of load-sharing scheme is being used for the two generators is misadjusted or needs tuning. If both units are being operated in Droop Speed Control mode, it's pretty likely there is some kind of...

Ship Generators in Parallel Problem
Harish, Basic power generation fundamentals: 1) Power is almost always related to amps, and fuel is proportional to amps. Fuel is controlled by the governor. 2) Voltage is controlled by the AVR. And voltage is usually constant when generating power.

Gas valve (SRV/GCV) Actuator Plug Oil Leakage
Isulamu, It's tuning, not tunning. Thanks for the additional information. It would have been nice to have in the original post. Glad you figured it out.

Gas valve (SRV/GCV) Actuator Plug Oil Leakage
Isulamu, I'm not familiar with that particular actuator, but most of the actuators recently used seem to be capable of being either double- or single-acting depending on the type of hydraulic manifold used. The application for both the SRV and the GCV requires single-acting actuators that are...

Mark VI UCVE dead?
MarkUser, Thanks so much for the update! One thing I'm coming to understand about the Mark VI is: It seems the order and timing of power-up of the three control processors is more important than for other TMR Mark* turbine control systems. My experience with TMR Mark IV and -V turbine...

Gas Turbine IVG
cigreen_man, Written like a TRUE design engineer. Actually, the original poster's question is very nebulous. I find it very difficult to compare GE-design Frame 5-sized machine and a PGT-10/2. One is an industrial gas turbine and the other is an aeroderivative gas turbine. They are...

Dear Shyam, Actually if you re-read your original post opening this thread you did not say that <i>all</i> the cards in the <S> processor were indicating A4 after being checked using the LCC/SLCC keypad's 'I/O States' function. If you have used the 'I/O States' function AND none of the...

Frame 5 gas turbine not detecting fire
I am going to add three things for others reading this message. The original poster has, as many people often do, offered that the SRV and GCV and IGVs are all "calibrated." First, the SRV is a pressure control loop--it will be sent to whatever position it needs to be in in order for the...

Mark VI UCVE dead?
MarkUser, Sorry to hear about your problems. I, too, have fought valiantly with UCVEs--and lost. I don't have access at this writing to a Mark VI System Guide, GEH-6421, to try to understand what a PC MIP is or does. And, I'm not clear how you could communicate with <S> or <T> if you...
