Wonderware Subtraction Error
The problem is probably that your 32 bit I/O tag is in the raw 32 bit number, while the engineering value is scaled from the 32 bit I/O tag. You need to work in the tags engineering unit values or scale the result of your calculation into the engineering range. good luck

Modbus TCP - Dup Ack/FCS/Retransmit
The older VFD's are probably not auto-negotiating Ethernet speed. Set their switch ports to just 10 Mb/s, as per the old switch. You don't need the potential faster speed and they probably only talk at 10 Mb. good luck

Industrial Sensors
From a metallurgical textbook or a Google search, it is easy to find a table of metals and their corrosion resistance. Some instrumentation handbooks also have material compatibility tables. Find the chemicals that are in the tank and check if 316SS is compatible. Here is one example...

Using single transmitter for both DCS & ESD
I meant to say that it is acceptable to use a signal splitter to provide the same transmitter signal to ESD or BMS and DCS. The ESD system must be the system that powers the signal splitter. good luck

Cannot Find a 12 VDC Conductivity Switch
A 2nd thought. What are the requirements for the system RE: electrical classification? Is explosion-proof or intrinsically safe equipment required on the tank? good luck

Cannot Find a 12 VDC Conductivity Switch
I see that electronic distributors have DC-DC converters with 24VDC 10W outputs for $50. That is an inexpensive solution even if you install 2 for redundancy with diode auctioneering. Designing everything for 24VDC might be the best solution next time so that you have a standard supply...

Can I Split Off 110V from 220V L1 (or L2) and Neutral?
It is perfectly OK. House wiring does it, no electrician is accidentally making 220 VAC. All 220V appliances like stoves and dryers do it to get 110VAC for controls and outlets. Make sure that you properly label and colour code both L1 and L2, every wire at both ends. Add some labels about...

Regulations for Electrical Installations in Factories
Your local Electrical Code will specify a minimum distance from the outlet to sink and if a GFI outlet is required. The Electrical Code is a legally binding regulation. good luck

Why do you pay for PLC programming software?
To understand why ladder logic exists you need to understand the development and history of PLCs. They were designed to replace and modernize logic using actual relays. So the language was designed to look and work like the physical contacts and coils. Triconex development software for their...

Does a control valve always needs output signal from positioner?
Your question was unclear if it was about using positioners on control valves or using position feedback from a positioner to your DCS as an input. In my experience position feedback or limit switches on valves are only used where required or for special applications. That being said with...

Does a control valve always needs output signal from positioner?
To use positioners or not will depend on the type, size and service of your control valves and the type of actuator on the valve. If you need a piston operator on a valve for failure action, i.e. fail open, closed or locked, you will need a positioner. Speed of operation, power required or...

Solution for Hole Made on an EX "d" JB
Yes, you should have used an adhesive label or used stencils and paint to label the front cover. That being said there are external plugs for gland holes sold for Ex d boxes, so you may be able to tap the wrong holes and plug them with a machine screw. You should consult the supplier or...

It would help to know the model of DO card. Triconex DO cards have an Output Voter Diagnostic (OVD) where the output switches that make up each output channel are quickly momentarily toggled on-off or off-on in different combinations to confirm that the output will work when required. If...

What type of DCS to Chose?
I presume that you have Delta V in your existing plant and are adding those 2 new plants? I would recommend that you use Delta V again. It is what you know and it is as good as or better than your other options. All new DCS systems like Delta V or Experion PKS have a similar cost. The...
